The Club is delighted to announce that Ledley King has signed a new contract that will see him at White Hart Lane until 2012.

Our Club captain, currently preparing to head off on England duty after being named in the provisional squad for the World Cup finals in South Africa, began his career at the Club having graduated through our Academy and turned professional in July 1998.

The 29-year-old has since made 290 First Team appearances in our colours and was skipper of the side that won the Carling Cup in 2008 and reached the final the following year. His 20 appearances this season helped steer the team towards a highest Premier League finish and a Champions League qualification tie at the beginning of next season.

Ledley said: "I am delighted to have signed a new contract with Spurs. I have been here since I was a schoolboy and I could never see myself going anywhere else. This is where I want to continue playing my football.

"We've got the prospect of Champions League football to look forward to next season and with the quality of players we have I believe we are on the brink of something big.

"It is an exciting time for the Club with a new training ground being built and plans for a new stadium.

"I am enjoying my football and I want to be a part of what is happening here."

Great news, 2 year deal is fair enough although I hope he will be able to play on for longer.

Luka and Gomes to sign up too please.

Perfect, then he can slowly take on a more of a coaching role helping the young spurs defenders come through.

Great news!

As for Modric, he signed a 6 year deal so i cant really see us giving him a new contract unless he is on a very low wage at the mo. I would imagine he is already amongst our top earners. Its not like he was a nobody before we signed him. Chelsea, United and the rest were after him.

Great news that he's signed a new contract, it makes a refreshing change for a footballer in the modern era (in England at least) to stay at his boyhood club throughout his career!

Great news. If we can get a few more league games out of him, maybe 25, we will do bigger things than challenge for fourth

Luka and Gomes to sign up too please.

Luka still got 4 seasons left on his,
would be nice to renew Gomes' though - only 2 seasons left on his.

Woodgate, Livermore and Taarabt are the players that only got 1 year left btw. While Cudicini, Alnwick, J.Walker and Dervite all expire this summer.

That indicates there is an increasing confidence in his fitness. I reckon he will play a lot more matches next season then he did this season.

i said this on the front page:

am so happy...for both ledley and the club. he obviously can't play the amount of games he (or we) would like to but am delighted he's going to seemingly end his career with spurs. absolute legend in my book.

Brilliant news. So many people writing him off last season saying he was finished. Geat player and a credit to the club. Go have a few drinks to celebrate ledders!

This and the Gareth Bale deals... make me very, very happy!

What would top it off now would be new deal for Gomes. A back up to the man who could shag my wife. And a top class striker.

The pieces of the jigsaw so close to being put together!
