New deal for Abbott

We are delighted to announce that George Abbott has signed a new contract with the Club, which will run until 2027.

The 18-year-old first joined us in the Under-8s and has been an influential figure in our Academy sides during the subsequent years, operating either as a central defensive midfielder or at right-back for the Under-21s.

Whenever I’ve seen him play I’ve been impressed. Physically he’s not the most gifted but he’s a thinking player who understands the game and where best to position himself. I’d bet that his future is as a full-back.

But my track record as a talent spotter is rubbish. What do the experts on SC think?
