We are delighted to announce that Japhet Tanganga has signed a new contract with the Club which will run until 2025.

The young defender has impressed playing across the back line this year in what has been his breakthrough season, having made his senior competitive debut in our EFL Cup tie against Colchester United in September, 2019, before coming into the team for his first Premier League appearance at home to Liverpool in January. Three days after his league debut, he was named Man of the Match in our FA Cup win against Middlesbrough.

Good timing with Vertonghen officially gone. This kid has so much potential and has jumped ahead of Foyth in his first season. Look forward to see more of him.

Great news. There is Jan's replacement. I would settle for one more season or half season of Tanganga, Dier, Sanchez, and Toby as our 4 CB's if it meant the club brought in a new RB and defensive midfielder. I know not to get my expectations up about too many signings so if we had to only pick 2 positions, I would focus on those 2.

Bring in a new CB in the winter or next summer then.

Agreed. I'm not sure of these links to the South Korean CB and honestly he's not a priority. Would love us to secure Holjberg, Eze, new RB, and a backup CF before going for a new CB.

Brilliant news - hopefully he’ll make a real impact next season and Ledley will have an influence on him.

Good news. Always knew he was going to make it. It wont stop there either as I see him as a future England player as well.

I believe we have a solid defensive unit at the club with Tanganga Dier Toby Sanchez if we could sign Ake who is a left CB we are pretty set. Foyth I believe would be a solid right back.

Yes, we have four good quality right-footed central defenders of varying ages. We could use a left-footed replacement for Vertonghen at a similar level. Perhaps not this summer, though.
