Juan Foyth has signed a new contract with the Club until 2023 and joined Spanish side Villarreal on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

The 22-year-old Argentina international defender joined us from Estudiantes in August, 2017, and has made 32 appearances in our colours to date, scoring once.

I'd like to think the new contract is because the powers that be think he has a future with us. Unfortunately, I think it's more likely to ensure we get a fee for him instead of leaving on a Bosman.

He wears number 8. Emery is going to get him selected for the 70s Netherlands squad
