We spent some money finally in one window after fucking about doing nothing in the previous 2. You can say we invested well this last window but it was purely to make up for he shit show of the last two that has left us where we are now.

And arbitrarily dividing it over all the windows ever diminishes it further. Do you have a point yourself?

Enjoying watching him play right now vs Arse. Very good with the ball, releases quickly and often forward. More progressive than I thought. Perfect foil for Ndombele and infinitely better on the ball than Dier.

I’m not pretending to know much about Utd but an in-law of mine is a massive fan and claims the club are keen to move him on.

He also said Matic’s legs are totally shot- think Dier in ten years- and he’s no longer capable of playing in the Prem. Basically we weaken ourselves if we buy him

He’d just be another one to add to the deadwood pile we would need to move on in the next 12 months.

He’s back in the Man U team now anyway so they aren’t going to sell him in January.

This one makes perfect sense.

With rumors of us spending big on few players, Jose's history with Matic and experienced players, and his faith in Dier (and there's still a chance he'll come good), Skipp (who needs just a bit more experience, maybe a loan, but he's shown promise), stop gap signing like Matic makes actually sense.

Think it's something Mourinho/Levy will consider. Personally have huge doubts he is still up to the job but he is EPL experienced, knows what Mourinho wants etc. Rumoured Utd want £15m for him although no doubt Levy will offer something in the £10-12m region in the last day or two. Move like that would allow him to go balls deep on someone like Koulibaly and come out at the end of the window with a CB and a DM, albeit the DM having massive questions marks over whether he is still up to it. Move out KWP permanently, can see maybe a push for Ferguson to.

Matic is a very decent passer.
Postional sense is good.
Unless we're spunking a barrow load on a world class DM (which I doubt especially if KK comes off)
I'd be very happy to take a punt on this guy

You can’t play Matic in a two man midfield- his legs are fucked- as well as expect Sissoko to keep covering Aurier’s position. It wouldn’t solve any of our problems, in fact we’d be riddled with even more weaknesses. I’d rather we play Skipp and save our money for someone better next summer

Only just spotted that McTominay is out for two months with knee ligament damage. No way are they letting Matic go, whether you want him or not.

Mourinho has been doing precisely this with Dier since he arrived. The only pairing we've had that worked at all in a 2 man midfield in recent years was Wanyama and Dembele.

I'm amazed some people watched the utd midfield get completely outplayed by the goons and conclude that they enjoyed it or wanted to sign this guy? I generally just let people have their own opinions but he is awful? A complete shadow of the player he used to be.

Seriously, how many over the hill defensive mid's on big contracts do we need at the club?

I love that our biggest issue is the intensity has dropped off significantly and we're linked to an old Matic. We even have fans giving up on Dier after his illness and he's much younger than Matic. We need someone around the age of Ndombele and Lo Celso.
