Sounds fair to me.
Tanguy’s situation was much worse, new country, new language, different intensity in the games, so much to contend with, then you get a new manager coming in that doubts you.

Alli had everything. He was already rated when Jose arrived, and he was settled in the team.

if Dele can’t turn this around, it’s on him.

Tanguy, looks leaner and fitter and more determined.
There are both talented footballers, but this Is about effort and all out desire.

that is what Jose wants, and I’m in favour.

The Amazon documentary was clearly a “filtered” production with buy in from all stakeholders (probably even the players) before it was released. The Ndombole discussion was interesting even after the filtering and maybe being ignored by Jose has given him the kick that he needed. But with regards to Dele it did come across as if he has lost a bit of hunger. He’s clearly intelligent and and maybe that narrow minded focus needed to reach the top isn’t there anymore. He’s very talented but probably has the mindset that there is more to life than winning a football match. And he’s set up financially so that drive in training, to obsessively keep running in a match - maybe it’s not there. Pure conjecture but still.

And Jose is clearly someone you don’t mess with. He’s getting people with personalities in (Doherty, PEH, Hart). That was probably not what the Poch model was about - that seemed to be more a kumbaya model with anyone throwing a tantrum (Andros) thrown out. When Gareth Bale signs because of Jose, you know that the Mourinho brand has a lot of value in the global football world. Jose seems to have that hunger and Daniel Levy is backing him. All the ingredients are there for a successful period. Let’s hope it works and let’s hope Dele gets his hunger back and is a part of that journey.

If any manager can get the old Dele back it's Jose, but its mostly down to Dele himself.

Levy said in the amazon doc that Jose was "obsessed with winning", and I think he expects this attitude from his players as well.

Levy ponying up for Bale (and the other 4) because Jose wanted them shows just how much he trusts Mourinho. I think we're going to have a good season once the squad is bedded in.

Mourhino doesn't need to be so destructive. Dele played two games this season and has been subbed in both tbh I can't see why in both games he played he hasn't been poor. Now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon kicking right into him. Jose like at other clubs before has a history of isolating and picking on players. Its strange because when he first came in he immediately set on Dele and his brother got a tune out of him while isolating Ndombele, now his saying he should look at Ndombele for inspiration.

You can see why he never lasts long at clubs.

25 trophies!
Billions spent. Not doubting Mourhino's abilities, Porto aside- that was a superb team, he's been given blank cheque books at most of his clubs.
The way he dealt with Iker Casillas at Real Luke Shaw and others sums him up.

Blank cheque at Inter Milan?

Dele is a specialist - he only really does on singular thing very, very well. When a specialist stops doing their one speciality, the question that will arise is whether that player is taking up a slot in the squad that could be better utilised. If a one trick pony stops doing that one trick, is it still a pony?

I don’t really buy that blank cheque line of thought. All the big clubs who have been successful spent a lot. It’s just how instantly that they want it. Mourinhos Chelsea team wanted it immediately and they got it. But besides probably the Arsenal invincibles team, every team in the last two decades have doled out the cash. United always have spent the big bucks (they have the bank accounts for expensive mistakes); Chelsea did, Man City did, Liverpool did (that’s what makes that Leicester season so remarkable). It’s like any business. Teams that spend it the most wisely get the reward. Daniel has set us up for a future of big bucks with the stadium. The signs are bright for us to join the big leagues.

I’ve seen no evidence of that since he’s been here ?

I really want Dele to succeed at Spurs, because quite frankly the hype of him being one of the best of his generation isn't false.

However, the Amazon documentary has given an insight into the way he has been treated and you can't help but feel sorry for the lad and assume he is probably incredibly confused.

Mourinho comes in 'Is this Dele's brother' 'You're a lazy trainer' 'You're career will be over in a flash' 'Sir Alex told me buy Alli' etc etc all the while Dele is still being used regularly and scoring goals.

Then the new season starts, there is no obvious place for him in the way the team is being lined up, he has a strong pre-season with lots of in-house praise and then he is the one singled out for not playing well against Everton, when we were poor to a man.

Now he is being told that he needs to do more to get in the team, when a few months before he was being told he had to do more but would still play and bail the team out. And to add insult to injury he is being told to follow Ndombele's lead as if the manager was the one who has turned it around for him.

Ndombele was new to England, new to the language and like all players would need time to settle, but now that he has settled and got his head down that's all on the manager and not at all on the player....

Christ, a large majority of this forum has been moaning about Dele's laziness for years. He has often been the fan's scapegoat and now when he is dropped the manager is wrong for dropping him?

In Better Call Saul (bear with me), there is this **** of a senior lawyer who is pretty shit to this character Kim. Kim eventually moves on and the **** says to her "I was only hard on you because I knew I could expect better from you. You could go to another level" (paraphrasing). This seems to be the situation with Jose and Dele to me.
