Apart from Lo Celso the midfield is weak and he hasn't found the right balance for the defence yet IMO
Ironically Dier is a better defender then midfielder and his new exercise regime could be a winner in the squad getting their fitness back
Absolutely - tbf whether people want Mourinho or not, it's pointless having given him the job if he isn't allowed to build a team to suit the way that he wants to play.I agree with that actually. I think we have a assumed best match day squad with players with various talents and strengths, and that's all good. But not all of those talents and strengths form a good unit in the Mourinho system. 2015-2018 our best footie was due to the unit, and that sense of an indestructible unit isn't there anymore, even if do have a few quite acceptable players.
Yeah, and bringing in new people into the club with new ideas about how to handle the transfer market, I think that will be a very thing. I don't think we've over performed in the transfer market for a very long time, so maybe some fresh ideas could really be a positive drive.Absolutely - tbf whether people want Mourinho or not, it's pointless having given him the job if he isn't allowed to build a team to suit the way that he wants to play.
The irony is that it will cost Levy far, far more to rebuild half the squad than it would have been to regularly add one or two while we were flying. We might have won something, too.No shit.
If only someone had suggested that we continue to sign players while the iron was hot.
A couple more signings, a decent preseason and who knows, we might all be smiling again.Lo Celso definitely is
Bergwijn probably will be
Fernandes easily could be
Ndombele hopefully will be
Sessengnon almost certainly will be
Clarke might be
Not bad for recent signings

Agreed - I meant that Mourinho should be given the backing to make the changes. You posted on the wrong forum didn’t you ?
There are some that didn’t like Jose from his first stint in the PL and still carry that today. So it really doesn’t matter that Levy (IMO) has dropped the ball on so many occasions but gets away with it. We we on the cusp of something so great and all we had to do to keep momentum was to sign some good players but we didn’t. Some were boasting that we finished in the top four without making any signings, where are you now? Do you still want to boast?
We had clear ITK and I think even Levy said it himself, the stadium build would not affect transfer funds. Well that didn’t seem the case
Well, during the January transfer window, when he was fully in charge, he brought in 2 midfield players in Jedson and Bergwin, but no striker, no fullbacks, the positions we were so obvious in need of. So did he have absolutely no say? Was the transfers all the work of Levy, who is not a football man? Or were both culpable?Absolutely - tbf whether people want Mourinho or not, it's pointless having given him the job if he isn't allowed to build a team to suit the way that he wants to play.
Honestly absolutely no idea. Maybe the players we got in were the only ones that Mourinho fancied. January is a shit window with few options. Again though, I would hope that the club is trying to do business now as we don't have to wait for the summer to do the deals. With Wanyama gone, I guess it shows that the club are thinking ahead.Well, during the January transfer window, when he was fully in charge, he brought in 2 midfield players in Jedson and Bergwin, but no striker, no fullbacks, the positions we were so obvious in need of.
