Great thread idea, @carpediem991.(y)

We're spoilt for choice. I find myself leaning towards this business of Michael Dawson being a regular starter for us. I think he's only sat out one league game and I think he might have been suspended for that.

I don't think we can count on Kaboul, I think Vertonghen wants away and there are question marks over Chiriches' suitability for the English game. It's hard to see us going out and buying 3 or 4 centre backs in the summer so knowing our luck, he'll be up for a testimonial this time next year.

Has to be the Kaboul story for me, i was so looking forward to him and Jan playing together instead we have had to see our club captain slowly get worse before our eyes.

The saddest thing is that Soldado's woes actually pale into insignificance against the lack of impact Lamela has made.

Two of our biggest signings ever and both have, so far, failed to a ludicrous level. It's pretty hard to determine which is more disappointing.

Over half our Bale cash spent on Soldado and Lamela.

27 games into the season and between them they've managed one Prem goal from open play, and two assists.

I think the way they have been used has been absolutely pathetic. It's as if the club wanted them to fail.

I don't disagree.

It's just so depressing that I'm trying not to think about it.

And that's without even considering Eriksen and Capoue who've also been treated pretty terribly.

I'm not too sure Sherwood has the capability to get Soldado back to the goal machine he once was. I don't think he has the tactician ability to find Lamela's best playing position to get the best out of him. Due to this same lack of tactical ability he keeps Eriksen on the bench as he don't know who to play him with to give him the freedom without fear of conceding due to our front 4/5 being so high up the pitch.

I would have been extremely proud to have a young manager that comes the ranks and knows the club inside out, being a massive success and in fact cost us nothing in transfer fee. The thing is though I also want that manager to manage our club in the ELP not the championship. Now I know we're far from relegation but looking at how disjointed, uninterested and basically beat the team looks, I think next season will be the most difficult since Ramos if Tim is still in charge
.........................I hope that bastard proves me wrong :(

Now that is truly depressing.

It's funny, because despite being worth a fortune and looking like that, he was shite for me in FM. Sold him to (then oil-backed) Everton for a fortune and they got relegated the next season.

How the fuck was he shit for you in FM? He is pretty much a cheat player, he scores 20+ goals a season even when he is managed by the computer!

I don't see how they pale into insignificance in relation to Lamela at all.

Lamela 9 apps 3 assists
Soldado 22 apps, 5 goals, 4 assists.

1 goal from open play by march does not just make Soldado a titanic flop, but if he continues in a similar vein for the rest of the season he will be the biggest flop in premier league history. Some may say that Andy Carroll would be a bigger flop, but last season he scored 7 in 22 apps which means that even ANDY FUCKING CARROLL has a better goals to game ratio in England than Soldado.

I voted for Soldado. I was disappointed the day we bought him and I never thought that he would work out in England. However, the level of his failures this season have shocked even me. I had very low expectations from the start, and somehow, someway, Soldado has managed to limbo beneath them.

I've had to have a think about this and i've decided that, because more than anything last year was a tough one for the guy having to spend almost all of it with a physio, to be so raring to go and then have these continued set backs Kaboul must be tearing his hair out.

So much talent, such a committed defender, yet so broken - we seem to collect these and it makes me sad.

SK, you know that isn't true.

May not have worked out the best... well pretty shitty TBH.... but come on

I don't think for a second that the club actually wanted them to fail. I meant that if they did want them to fail, they couldn't have gone about it in a better way. Just highlights how poorly they've been handled. I know Soldado is getting (and missing) good chances now, but I'm pretty sure his confidence has been torn to pieces by being made to played completely incorrectly by AVB for such a long time.

Ok fair enough that I agree with.

Mismanagement is pretty much the story of our season to date.

(apologies for misunderstanding you)
