I'm very hopeful that it's true. Ghosto absolutely nailed it on the Dele Alli deal, so lets hope he's got it on this one too.

I'd imagine we'd have to pick up our performances between now and end of season as levy won't spend much if he starts having doubts.

Wasn't too big on Schneiderlin last year, but he's impressed me a lot whenever I've watched him this year.

Would love to sign him as he's much better than anything we have. Can't imagine there's much truth to that though, Schneiderlin, Bentaleb would be a great midfield 2, but can't really see us signing him when he could prevent Alli getting game time.

Surely winning football matches is more important?

Yeah, because I'm saying anything that contradicts that statement. I think Alli has been brought in to go straight into the squad. I'd prefer Schneiderlin to any of our options, but I have a hard time believing we'd be able to sign him now

Well you did. You implied that we wouldnt sign Schniederlin because it would effect Ali's game time, when Schniederlin is the better player by miles which would improve our chances of winning football matches.

Yeah, I don't want to win games obviously. I'm just nowhere near as narrow-minded as you clearly and can see why the club would want to avoid stunting the development of (apparently) one of the hottest prospects we have by signing somebody for £30m.

That's fine. Alli goes straight into the squad and Schneiderlin straight into the starting XI.

I really don't see Alli roadblocking us from picking up another CM or CDM.

Wow, what a childish reply. Firstly, I didnt imply that you didnt want to win football matches. Secondly, Ali is what..19? he has plenty of time, we dont need to rush him into the first team in what will be a transitional season for him. We will not ruin his career or our investment by signing Schniederlin.

Childish, haha. You've tried to do this a load of times, pick holes in posts I make (maybe because I've taken the piss out of you a few times?). I'm not saying I wouldn't want to sign him, nor that it wouldn't make sense to. I'm saying that the current ethos of the club seems to be to bring through youth via prolonged exposure to Premier League games, as was apparently stated at that supporters meeting thing where they said they would be targeting the younger £10-£15m range of players.

I could see us going for a CM if we manage to shift the Paulinhos and Capoues in the squad - but I can't see us splashing the amount of cash it would require to sign Schneiderlin.

Would be amazing. Bentaleb/Schneiderlin would be a hell of a midfield.

The likes of Ali will be eased in and rotated. With so many games on our schedule there's more than enough game time and we're crying out for a bit more experienced quality with the necessary know how - that will compliment the youngsters well.

Alli might be better than Bentaleb anyway. I'd love it if we were to sign Schneiderlin and I'd play him above each and every one of our midfielders, but I don't think the club would go through with it - that's all I'm saying.

I pick holes in any posts I see that I dont agree with, that's what forums are here for, it's nothing personal.

I personally wouldn't be keen on that but that's a good point.

I really don't think he's going to be a regular first choice. I could be completely wrong and he could develop his game no end next season, but that's just it - that's what it would take. I see no signs of that happening whatsoever. He's poor off the ball, very little work rate, and on it he hogs it. Yes he's a good pacey/direct option from the bench, if we want to mix things up but as a starter? Not for me, not the way his game is at the moment.

Problem is I think he wants first team football and could see him entertaining a move.
