so what's the deal here? he's just torn up juve to help fiorentina advance to the final of the coppa italia scoring both goals in a 2-1 win, 6 goals in 7 games(not all starts) since joining. is serie a just a pushover? he managed to score against us though .. and fiorentina knocked us out so maybe not. did chelsea just misuse him? they've shipped him out on loan without giving him much of a chance and replaced him with a 25m signing who may not actually be better. i was very impressed with him when he played for basel against us, looked great until he had to shoot but he's a big threat, a player with his movement and pace will be a danger for any defence.

what do we think? purple patch? serie a teams can't handle him? chelsea wasted him? all of the above?

I think he's a damn good player who can't shoot. He absolutely tore us to shreds two years ago in the Europa, but couldn't hit the target to save his life.

So I think it's a combination of a few factors:
1) He's inconsistently heard of as he can't shoot well.
2) His stint was never going to go well at Chelsea, and he was clearly purchased as a rotation option.
3) Yes, Serie A has gotten too weak.

All of the above, you get more time in serie a which suits his game , purple patch with the buzz of a new club, another player that Chelsea bought just to stockpile IMO and never really given a chance.

He has always impressed whenever I saw him play for Basel as well.

Looked fantastic against us in both legs, but I only watch occasional highlights of Sieri A so not sure how good he is on a weekly basis.

Just think that Chelsea can get rid of Torres, Mata, Schurrle and Salah without looking any weaker

I think he would be an excellent signing for us

I can't see it happening though

Great goal yesterday, he was never really given a chance at Chelsea. People say Serie A is weak but Juve are still in the CL and I think that Roma, Lazio, Napoli and Fiorentina are still in the EL.

His shooting isn't that bad, seems like he's enjoying his football again.

And that is precisely what is wrong with football.

Reading through Kumb in the past they have accused us of the same. We have lost Carrick, Keane, Berbatov, Modric, VDV, Bale etc all our best players, and still continued to press for fourth. The only difference is we have sold our best players and Chelsea's have been bit part players. An achievement in someways, extremely frustrating as a supporter

He's playing for a permanent move too. Didn't we have a player doing that once......Looked good, signed on a permanent deal, then was gash for the next 2/3 years?

Us and Liverpool were both interested, but Chelsea could offer a bigger wage as well as guarantee of CL football.
They bought him with the sole intent of stopping him joining a rival.
Alongside Schurrle and DeBruyne he's another fool that went with the money.

I think he's just recovering from the shock of being at a football club that was too racist even for him.

As a pacey direct type he's always been pretty good, not sure he was ever the type for Mourinho though.

He's a good player, but Chelsea like Schurrle he was never given much of a chance. I'm not sure why they buy half the players they do.

I too would love him here, if only for the fact that we have so much trouble keeping him quiet whenever we play against him.

But he has, I believe, made his own thoughts quite clear re playing for us, so it ain't gonna happen.

Lamela ripped up Serie A in his last season but sadly has not produced such form here. Soldado was behind only Messi and Ronaldo but can't buy a goal in the epl. So who knows how anyone will play at a different club .. Siggy I knew would cause us problems on Wednesday but for us was only a bit part player ... I could go on. Quite frankly it seems like a numbers game. Buy lots of players and some will succeed; that's what Chelsea, Man City and in a smaller way we do
