It depends really. Page 1-30 of this thread had him as too slow and overpriced. The last 30 or so pages as we move closer to deadline day have him as a beast of a CH, rated in the top 10 in the World, worth at least double what Inter want for him. Take your pick really.
There are question marks with Skriniar, he really dropped off in a three man defence last season. Before that he was unquestionably in the top 5 serie A defenders (koulibaly, de vrij, chiellini and Bonucci) and he is considerably younger than those other four.

A lot of early commentators were focusing on the fact that Godin took his spot and this season without really knowing who he was. For whatever reason Serie A seems to very much be ignored despite it being the strongest it has been since calciopoli.

People should be excited. Even the idea that he is 'slow' comes from a misunderstanding of what went wrong for him last season. He is far from slow. It just came from some articles suggesting he struggled with having players run at him in a 3 man defence. But that comes more from him being a player that is very eager to win the ball and presses very strongly, and can be caught out doing so. Even this is just based on one season for. Where he wasn't even that bad, just a significant drop in performance.

Fwiw I was told we would be trying again but we will not meet their asking price. If they compromise it could still happen. He's set on coming here so I'd still say it's 50/50.

And if ever there was a window where Levy could play hardball, this is it. Money is tight, Conte doesn’t really want him and we’ve strengthened significantly in many areas of the squad. Pressure’s on them

thanks @Trix

seems like a wrap then, don't see a world where Inter compromises.
Wouldn’t say it’s impossible, doesn’t seem to be a starter for conte and thought somebody said they need money for their signings. If we went to say 43m and they want 50m, would they be willing to deal considering all the uncertainty going on.

May be unlikely, depends how firm they are on their stance

Just so everyone can stop wetting themselves over the planes. G-THFC is operated buy LuxAviation UK (used to be London Executive based at Stapleford Aerodrome). They have many planes on their AOC (Air Operators Certificate). A quick look on the CAA G-Info site shows who "owns" the aircraft, but sometimes they're one and the same even though it's another company's / individual's aircraft for paperwork reasons. Some planes are used for just the owners/clients. Some are chartered out to make money on the side when they're not being used by the owners.

In this case G-THFC is owned by:

RAZ AIR LTD
C/O LONDON EXECUTIVE AVIATION LTD
STAPLEFORD AERODROME, STAPLEFORD TAWNEY
ROMFORD
RM4 1SJ

Looking at HMRC's website you can see the Director of this company is none other than Daniel Levy.

Going back to the CAA's G-Info you can search for everything on LuxAviation's AOC:

I have mentioned this about a dozen times in the last 48 hours, but it falls on deaf ears (or blind eyes - is that a thing?).

The Queen has used G-THFC in the past.

£13m has got to be too far apart. Even with a meet in the middle compromise that extra £6.5m is a fair chunk to add on or let go.
We’re going to have to up the offer to at least £40m from the reported £32m to make it happen imo. But sadly I don’t think we’ll stretch that far.
Big shame, we really need a CB that can command the box on set pieces.

Hey man... you gave us 0.5% chance months ago of signing Bale... so, shit, 50/50 means he's already with the boys in Manchester! :joyful::playful::joyful:

If this isn't going to happen, then you move onto the next player in the list.
There is no guarantee he will be cheaper in January. If we are not willing to pay them what they want now, which is up to Levy, then we need to move on to other targets.

Of course Inter will compromise. No way they started negotiations at the price they want and expect to achieve.

Question is whether they will compromise enough. Spurs too.

Dortmund did it...

I know the situation is slightly different as perhaps he is out of favour but is he out of favour? Perhaps not.
