Lots of folks defending Dier in the match day thread. I disagree. Two plays in 10 minutes he was in the air with his arms around his shoulders, Spurs got away with one of them. Would love Skriniar in to provide certainty at the back.

You've obviously never tried jumping for a ball against another player.

I think we will see some movement on this tomorrow, it’s time to go for it, he’s there for the taking. Fingers crossed

You ever played football?
I have. It’s very frustrating the new rule and replay review have been brought into the game and we’re even having this conversation.

I’m happy to wrong about this and wish seeing Dier in the lineup gave me confidence - I really liked the idea of Jose turning him into the menacing presence at the back he seems he could be - but he just doesn’t. If that’s colouring my view, then fair play.

Then your thoughts are even more ridiculous than at first glance

I don't like Dier as a footballer. I think he's too slow, reaction time isn't great, and in general, he just isn't the level of CB/DM that we need.

That being said, the decision today is in no way, shape, or form his fault.

I'm pretty confident that Skriniar back of the head vision is better than Diers so we need him in asap.

Bad post. Not going to negative rating it and all that, but felt it’s important you know this is a shit view on the situation.

That ending had me fuming... nobody to blame except the ref... don’t imagine he’d of done that with 62,000 of us in there, BUT I was really encouraged by the performance today. Docherty and PEH seem to be settling in well and TN looked full of confidence coming off the bench.

If we can just get Skriniar in and a backup striker I’ll be genuinely optimistic for the season ahead...

Full article talks about how Skriniar ‘liked’ one of Bale’s recent posts on social media and how we need to sell two of Rose, Aurier and Foyth first to afford a deal.

The Slovakian followed Bale on social media, fresh back to the Spurs. The Nerazzurri ask for 50 million, the English first have to sell two between Aurier, Rose and Foyth

Not that a like can make a difference, but in the years in which social networks have become the most immediate and often effective means of communication - sometimes for good, sometimes for bad - it becomes however curious to discover that Skriniar has at least given a ' look at Gareth Bale's profile, fresh from homecoming. In that Tottenham where, who knows, the Slovenian defender could join him. About a week ago, via Instagram, the Welsh striker, on loan from Real Madrid, posted a series of shots of him in the New White Hart Lane on the day of the presentation (with him also Sergio Reguilon). And among the almost 2,200,000 likes, even that of Milan. A case? Maybe yes maybe no.

An answer that can never be certain (to interpret it would be wrong), while the negotiations underway between Inter and Spurs for the passage of Milan to London are sure. The situation is in the making, at the Nerazzurri a cautious optimism about the success of the deal filters through: it starts with an (initial) request for 50 million euros. Too many, evidently, for the English who will try to sell at least two between Aurier, Rose and Foyth between now and the end of the market to have fresh money to use for Skriniar, on the bench against Fiorentina (like Ranocchia, another outgoing player).

Getting bored now- just get the CB, striker and possible attacking midfielder in the next couple of days, then find a way of bribing VAR officials to just be fair and consistent
