For me he is the best of the lot and I am shocked he is still at Spurs.

Two seasons ago he had a outstanding year and came back the following season to find himself behind both Austin who is a good keeper and Whiteman.

He has played very little football last year and it is a waste in my eyes because he may not be the biggest of keepers but for me he is the best all round keeper of the lot of them and his distribution of the ball cannot be beat by the other keepers and he does save pens as well.

What I would like to see happen is for him to get a loan so he can play football because if we don't then he should leave because his is far too good to be a third choice keeper.

I know he had a serious injury, kidney? may be why he’s fallen down the pecking order

Do not see that as a reason why,he was still as good as he was before the injury and Whiteman who has also had injuries around the same time was still getting picked ahead of De Bie.

De Bie is still only 19 but I would hate to see him as a 3rd choice keeper for our u23s this season.

Wouldn't be upset in the slightest to see Vorm back for a bit with Hugo out for a while. Solid keeper (arguably better than Gazzaniga dependent on respective form at this time) and such a good guy to have around, think he is very well respected and highly thought of by the whole squad, probably wouldn't be bad to get a personality like that back at this point in time considering the run we've been on. I'm not opposed to making one of the younger players third choice either but doesn't seem likely whatsoever.

Hard to see a youth keeper ever making it at Spurs. I have a slither of hope for Solberg based on nothing other than he looks like a monster at 16.

Solid is a very generous description based on his last games with us.

Just been re-reading
some of the Vorm comments
for some of his last performances.

Suddenly he's become
the best thing since sliced bread
when before he was toast.

I know that people have kind memories
when you die
but this is ridiculous.

Best thing since slice bread / One person calling him a "solid" keeper followed by somebody calling it very generous

If this is true, Poch really doesn't rate Alfie Whiteman.

This doesn’t change Whiteman’s situation at all.

He will remain 3rd choice & learning his trade. Even if he was showing signs of being ready for the bench, it would be negligent not to sign a free agent in case of further injury. The fact that there is a free agent that the club knows well is a huge bonus.

Also would you want to throw him in when the team is struggling in general? It could kill his career.

Gazzaniga needs some competition. We cannot take a chance on an untried keeper who has never been near a first team appearance.
In view of Hugo’s many mistakes over the last few seasons, are we any worse off?

It might be the prudent or practical thing to do to sign Vorm. However it is again the message it conveys to the Academy that its nigh on impossible to get your chance regardless of form or injuries. I am not saying Whiteman is or is not ready I would just like to see a more coherent plan and path for the youth in our ranks to get a chance.

Skipp has been caught in this vortex of train and never play so when he does finally get the odd game in a cup or minutes in the league he is deemed not ready even though he is clearly not match sharp. Same for KWP and same for any of the others.

Time to be brave is all I ever hear but I never see much bravery when it comes to the younger players.

Positives - he’s familiar with the squad
Negatives - error prone, awful at crosses, sawdust for knees... still a free agent says it all

Surely at least one of the kids is promising enough to step up till January?

Why's Gazzaniga getting flack all of a sudden?

It’s not all of a sudden. I struggle to believe anybody that’s watched him for us thinks he’s good enough.

He is (edit: one of) the worst ‘keepers we’ve had in my lifetime. Seems a nice guy, but there’s a reason he was third choice at Southampton. From all the evidence I’ve got, Kane is a better goalkeeper.

Nah. His ability with the ball at his feet is his one redeeming quality. Low shots, he never gets down to in time. If he saves something 7/10 times he palms it into the danger zone. I can’t be bothered to go into it more He wasn’t good enough for Southampton, he’s nowhere near good enough for us.

I am dreading him being first choice for a while. What is the actual point of your post? Do you think you’ve proved me wrong? I pray to Anubis he’s not a train wreck while he deputises - but I’m not holding my breath.

As I say, I don’t care enough to get into this boring shite. You lot can froth at the mouth, belch awful rebuttals with no basis in reality and neg rep. All I hope is that he’s semi-decent at least this time round.

Pleased with this news seemed an important character in and around the squad when he was here previously.
