Lol, I know it is harsh but there is some truth in it, if frustrated me beyond belief the other day but to be fair to Daws it wasn't just him.

He's trying to fill in for Huddlestone.

Yesterday was tough though for him because there wasn't any real options to play it out. We didn't have VDV or Modric to show for the ball.

Didn't see the game against Stevenage but I thought Dawson had stopped all the hoofs for a while now.

Modric gave him so many bollockings for it in the past

A combination of a poor pitch, hard working opposition and a nervousness within ourselves saw us hit the long ball, Daws being the main culprit.

Re Liverool, wouldn't surprise me that they were looking at him, Kenny has been buying British.

He did it pretty much every time he got the ball yesterday. The pitch was bad, but he should be able to pass a ball.

The pitch was shit - the oppo were taking advantage of our discomfort and pressing high and the likes of Parker and Livermore playing centrally were not given time to show and move the ball quickly in midfield to play our usual game. Both Walker and Dawson were guilty of offloading quickly and relieving the high line pressure - just one of the reasons why we didn't settle and play the game we saw against Newcastle.
The Dawson to Liverpool is an old FM favourite too - one of the most popular and common transfers in the game lol.

Wow. Didn't realise that Dawson was the new irrational dislike figure. Shame, he has been good for the club and consistent when with King. You would think people would appreciate the clean sheets, but alas, the mongs are out so he will have to go.

I totally agree, was just pointing out why we were hoofing it a bit more yesterday.

Wasn't a pop at you mate. Just a shame about how a very loud minority make a lot of retarded noise. The guy cost 4 million from memory, and Andy Reid was the higher rayed one of the two. He has been a great buy, and for me he can stay at spurs until he hangs up his boots.

Not only should he be, he is. His pass accuracy is nearly 87%, slightly worse than Ledders and Gallas, slightly better than Kaboul (who was also hoofing it yesterday).

Usual silly scapegoating thread.

He might have been the only person to get the tactics right.
A short pass to midfield would have been closed down on their small pitch and without Modric nobody would have been able to control the ball.
I doubt anyone plays successful passing football at Stevenage the onlly hope there would be to have a big lad up front and go for the Stoke nonsense.

Parker and Livermore couldnt trap a bag of cement yesterday.

Sure it wasn't pretty, but Dawson's primary job is to keep the ball away from our area-with neither of the centre midfielders dropping short or showing any kind of footballing ability, a pass to them would have been risky-i'd far rather he hit it long and away from danger.

We certainly didn't draw yesterday because of Dawson's apparent 'hoofing!'

This thread is a bit disappointing, but it's inevitable. When first there was Zokora, then came Jenas, and now it's Dawson. The truth is, with each of those players the team has progressed around them and they have not. So yes, I would agree with the sentiment that out of King, Bassong, Gallas and Dawson, Dawson is now the weakest because Kaboul's progression has been incredible in the past year.

However what I don't like is the scapegoat culture that inevitably spreads when threads like this are started. Dawson is still a very capable defender, will always give his heart and soul for the club, and a few nervous moments against a pacy striker on a very bobbly pitch will certainly not see me turn on him. Plus, that's a second clean sheet added to an excellent display at Anfield. This after being injured all season.

He doesn't deserve the criticism. Yes, we have a more technically adept and pacey first choice in King and Kaboul, but Dawson is a million miles better than almost all of the second choice CBs in the league, the exception being United and City.

Support him.
