I worry about him physically, not just his height. But he's such a talented player, I'd be very happy if we took a risk on him. He'd offer a whole new dimension to our play. So often our attacks break down when they reach the fullbacks, as they are all so limited going forward. I can't remember us ever having such a technically gifted FB.

If it’s Aurier, Foyth and KWP out then we would need 2 new right backs. I wouldn’t be surprised if we signed both.

Agreed, but maybe Castagne is more likely than Celik though, as he can play with RB and LB apparently.

I think we're missing a trick not playing Foyth at right back.

Sarr at Watford (imo) could be converted and be an unbelievable right back

Aaron’s is great for a long term option but I honestly don’t expect him to perform to the level that Aurier did since Jose arrived. TAA aside Aurier was one of the top performing full backs. Statistically he did well, played in a very very demanding role expected to get up and down the line constantly.

It would be very naive to expect a lot from Aaron’s so early on and I would honestly prefer we signed someone else along with him. The likes of Castagne would be perfect as he can play both sides.

I like Aarons a lot, he looks like a young Danny Rose to me. Super tenacious, not soft by any means. He is 20 though, and makes mistakes, but for a 20 year old he is exceptional. Some people question if he is better than KWP. Now I think he is, but more than that, Aarons is so young, He is born in the same year as Oliver Skipp and is a year younger than Tanganga, yet some people are judging him as if he is some established pro. KWP is 23 and is already a player who is on a different stage of his development.

This is Aaron's 2nd season as a pro. Not as a starter, but as a footballer. He made his debut last season. Walker at his age was out on loan at Sheffield Utd in the Championship. Rose on loan at Bristol, still nominally a winger. These two players then spent years being criticised as not good enough until, you know, developing in a very normal positive way for players their age.

People take time to grow, you cannot judge a 20 year old in the same way as a 24 year old. As someone which works with teenagers and young adults you really see this. But people sometimes are far to quick to judge and just expect people to be 'perfect' as soon as they start playing regular games.

With Aarons, yes, think about the player he is. But, more than that, we need think about the player he could be. Aarons has loads of room to grow, and you can see how he can develop and if he has the right attitude I would be shocked if he doesn't become a full international minimum. There is a reason he is linked with Bayern, it's not what he is now, it's that he has a lot of potential and elements of his play suggest he could develop into a top top fullback.
Exceptional post.

Should be doing Celik & Aaron’s at RB and just leave Tanganga as the 4th CB instead of buying Kim and playing Tanganga at RB.

And then Tanganga almost never plays and hence never develops as he’s not yet going to be trusted ahead of Dier, Alderweireld or Sanchez but has two career right backs ahead of him too.

Tanganga is far more likely to make it long term if he’s number 2 RB this season than number 4 RB. Campbell did a whole season at full back and ended up a far better centre back for it. Plus, who knows, maybe Tanganga ends up a right back instead. At this point I’d say it’s just as likely as centre back given his pace, height (lack of) and comfort on the ball.

Or you just let them both develop in their natural positions.
Players changing positions isn't crazy as some people think those that laughed at my suggestions should study football better it happens all the time example at B Munich they readily practice this.

The bulk of a squad should be positional specialists but there should also be a good selection of players who can cover different positions.
Look at Moura, played through the middle and up front andI thought he was totally out of his depth.Since Jose has got him out wide there’s a hell of an improvement. We need a couple of multi positional players

Good point! I remember there was like 18 months when all we were signing or linked with was RBs ?
Then to top it off we signed 2 RBs at the same time when we got both Kyles from Sheffield United.

We must've had about 10 RBs over a 5 year period...

Definitely down for Aarons plus Celik/Castagne.

Got a good feeling about Aarons. He's small but stocky and height aside has a lot of the attributes a PL full back needs to succeed. Plus homegrown and decent experience at only 20.
