Max Aarons is our long term target. I think we will buy him if we can find a suitor for Aurier.

Though I think we should also buy someone like Bogle or Nathan Ferguson, and send them to loan to premier league clubs like chelsea does.

I’d rather just switch the dynamic and try Sessegnon as the attacking left back and Tanganga as the defensive right back than shell out on Aarons.
Buying Aarons and having 2 fullbacks playing like a normal fullbacks would be even better.

I would LOVE that - not only because I think he is a good player but because he would be the first NI international I've had the pleasure of watching for Spurs for a very long time.
Im old enough to remember Chris McGrath and Gerry Armstrong!

Insane to me we’ve built a formation around fucking serge aurier

Many don't like it and refuse to allow their dislike/hatred of him to see it but he's the best wide outlet in the squad. No other option hugs the line and is aggressive in their positioning.

If the attackers made better decisions and actually varied their movement the team wouldn't have to be so dependant on Aurier to provide width.

For whatever reason Moura very rarely plays as a wide player despite that being his best position.

I don't see what's so special about Aarons other than him being homegrown, he isn't an upgrade on Aurier.

That’s why good scouts are like gold dust.
We’ve scouted Aaron’s when he was tearing up the championship, and waited until we’d seen him in the premier league to get a better idea. Which looks to have backfired because he’s struggled. You could blame it on their wide- open style, but individually he hasn’t stood out at all.
But would bogle fare any better in the prem? Again, hard to say.
Castagne maybe a safer bet, but only because of his CL experience.
One thing is for sure, we’re going to have to trust our scouts judgement because we can’t stick with what we’ve got.
Whilst we were investing in the bricks and mortar, Levy should have also invested in the Scouting dept to ensure more transfers were successful than not. Just like Dortmund and Atletico, that’s what keeps a club of our stature moving forward

well, our scouts (Ha ha) are on a tear of late. Aurier over Ricardo
Sissoko instead of Winajldum
vinny over literally any other striker in the world
Sanchez over De Ligt
Clarke over Bowen
Thinking Ndombele was a CM/DM
Apparently believing that Hojbjerg is the answer at DM.

I’ll drink my way out. Thx.

Aarons would be a good signing in the Trippier mould. Sign him as a backup. Give him some games in the cup, and when our first choice RB needs a rest, and he might eventually grow into the starting role that Trippier did in 2-3 seasons.

Meunier and Aarons would be solid low cost signings to shore up the right back position.

Who wants to tell him about Meunier?

Or just buy fullbacks that can defend and attack like other teams do. I’m not convinced these lopsided tactics are doing much use.
They’re very predictable and that gaping hole, the one frequently created by Aurier when he charges upfield, is very easy to exploit with the right game plan

Ermmm... how can anyone turn their nose up at Aaron’s when Uarier can’t defend, cross, pass, or get through 30 mins without giving away dangerous free kicks

I’m a bit baffled by this as well along with the disdain a lot are showing for Hojbjerg. We’ve got one senior right back who’s massively suspect and not a single recognised defensive midfielder in the squad. And now we’re targeting two players who are both premier league proven, better than what we’ve got and both under the age of 25 so the potential for improvement is there as well. Look at the way Liverpool fleshed their squad out with players from Premier league teams below them. Aarons and Hojbjerg aren’t immediate game-changers but they undoubtedly make us better than we are.

There are doubts about Aarons though.
Aaron’s has played every game this season
Norwich have conceded 60 goals, and kept only 4 clean sheets
Norwich have been praised for their attractive, attacking football. Full backs do get forward in their system. However, Aaron’s has only two assists (one against us, typically).
This isn’t a statistical assassination of him, just a realistic reflection on his performance the PL.
He was Young Player of the year in the Championship last season. Has he continued that trajectory?
Hopefully our scouts have done their due diligence and found the right target to improve on Aurier, who is a liability.
The only certainty is that Aaron’s wouldn’t dive into tackles as much as Aurier. The rest is unclear
