He isn't £40million worth of fullback, not yet, but that won't stop teams paying the asking price. He looked good against a disjointed attacking front three tonight, he was hardly troubled.

Going forward he seemed alright.
Made a top class tackle against Son though. But I get what you mean.

I'll fully admit someone will pay for him, it might even be us (haha) and no, it isn't my money. If it is for us then all the better!

***Comes in, whispers it quietly:*** Aurier is playing a lot better under Mourinho. We may not need to spend 40m on a Right Back.

Personally I was really impressed with him tonight. Pretty solid defensively and a threat going forward, with pace to burn. Aurier was also pretty good, but if you told me we'd sell Aurier in the summer and replace him with Aarons, I can't say I'd be upset.

Rewatching the game. I like him, I like him a lot. Not a lightweight at all, very aggressive. He actually reminds me a little of a pre-injury Danny Rose. Defended well attacked well and a very clever player. I'd be very happy with him and Aurier as our options.

If we can get him in the summer I'm all for it. He looks like a good athlete and plays aggressively. As a country we seem to be producing good full backs of late so it seems a prime position in which to have a homegrown player.

Exactly. We need a bit more of that.

He felt hard done by going to VAR review for that tackle (which they were absolutely correct to review) and so he kept his head up and really went for us.

We could do with a few more bastards of that mentality, who crucially have the skill to back it up.
Again rewatching the game he is no way close to playing for a top 6 side yet. I mean he is lively and has some good movement. But he doesn't hit the ball particularly well. His shots were wild and flat. His bad tackle, was also terrible technique. I find he is also quite lightweight. I mean he puts a shift in but needs to use his body much better.

I think he is a talented creative player that moves very well and puts himself about. He has scored a lot of tap ins by making effective runs. He also clearly works hard and is an impressive carrier of the ball. I think he's a talent but I think there's better.

Exactly. Whatever Aarons is worth based solely on tonight's performance, then Aurier is worth double

I like stats and the fact that Aurier has now 7 assist so far, TAA the most with 11, for a fullback that's pretty good imo. I'm not opposing that we get a new young English RB but to consider him as a replacement for Aurier at this point, is nonsense.

And yes, you could argue that Aurier hasn't been consistent enough over time, but under Mourinho it looks like he's found his strive and I notice a progression in his overall way of play

Aurier is playing well and I'm personally pretty happy with how he's come on this season.

Aarons impressed me so the ultimate goal for me would be to swap KWP with Aarons and allow Serge and Max to fight it out/rotate next season.

RB would suddenly be a strength rather than a weakness.

We've got to stop buying players who play well against us, because lets be honest, we are pants defending .

This kid may be the answer....just saying.

I don't see the fuss about Max Aarons. I have seen quite a few Norwich games this season - he has been at fault for many Norwich goals - main problem being out of position or not reading the play. Yes, there has been games where he has shown odd moments of brilliance. But largely, he has had a bad first PL season.

Aurier is playing really well. Tanganga seems to be a good back up in that position. IMO, no need to rush for a RB this Jan. I would rather focus on getting a proper striker & a defensive midfielder than a RB this window.

Personally, I would go for German International RB Lukas Klostermann (Leipzig) - He is a big unit 6'3 , but also quite fast, tactically brilliant, good in final third, can also play across the back line - Currently stalling on his contract (ending 2021). Bayern are after him. He may cost 40m+. Get him & we are sorted under Mourinho era.

I think almost everyone would like Klostermann instead but we have to think of the home grown quota as well.

Surprised no one has mentioned the video of he and Son after the game. I don’t think there’s anything in this at all but I know some like to speculate.
