I think he would leave in a heartbeat. He has no emotional ties to the US. This is not a squad that is expected to make a deep run at the World Cup. It’s a job. People leave jobs all the time.

The real question is not whether Poch would come, it is whether Levy would pay to make it happen. We all know the answer to that one.

I’d not be surprised to find his contract is quite well protected for these very reasons.

I think it’d be a very expensive contract to get him out of.

So therefore the chances of it happening are nearly 0.

AVB I genuinely can't remember why he was sacked. I thought he wasn't backed when he got injuries with Sandro.
AVB was backed more than any other manager under ENIC in that we actually spent the Bale money on all those players. He was slightly unlucky with injuries to Lamela and Sandro in particular and obviously Soldado and Paulinho were massive flops but he was definitely backed. The problem was that the football that half season post Bale was absolutely awful and losing 0-5 to Liverpool was the final straw.

Plus he has Dimmy in Levy's ear the whole time undermining him because Dimmy wanted the job for himself.

Why the do we keep coming back? All the reports were that he would have in 2023.
Poch did like the club, but he will have a less emotional and more logical view on his career. We unfortunately have no other options. He wasnt backed then, and he wont be now. Like someone else posted, Poch to come back when Levy has gone, now that could work.

This is not hindsight talking because myself and many (maybe most?) fans on SC were thinking the same tihing at the time - if Poch is desperate to come back, why on earth would ignore him, and go for an Australian Celtic manager who has never managed in a top league??

For the first ten game, I thought, ok, maybe I got this one wrong, but it turns out I and we didn't !

Daniel Levy............what a guy !!

Please come back Poch and with some of our exciting young players such as Moore, Lankshear, Gray, Donley, Bergvall, Kinsky and Odobert we can at least look to go back to being a solid top 6 team and re-build from there.

And chop some of the shit dross we have.

Sherwood also undermined Hoddle, by all accounts - can't stand the guy, and his tenure as head coach was the worst I've felt watching spurs (since I was a very young lad in Klinsmann's first stint with us)

Harry literally asked for the England job publicly, and was telling everyone Modric is going. Of course he had to go.

Jose and Conte were signing players to be horseshit football. AVB I genuinely can't remember why he was sacked. I thought he wasn't backed when he got injuries with Sandro.

But Poch had us playing great football and getting us close to league and UCL wins. If you can't see that difference, then maybe show when those other managers got closer. Some of them had Modric and Bale - UCL legends.
Conte's football was great until the final stage when he seemed to fall apart mentally (partly due to personal tragedy and obviously also due to the issues he flagged in the post-Southampton rant). In Conte's first season we were fourth highest scorers (I think also fourth best defence). In his second season we were something like 5th or 6th highest scorers overall and probably 3rd or 4th highest at the point he got sacked).

I loved Conte-ball and was really gutted when it fell apart. Mourinho on the other hand - don't think I've ever been as bored watching football than during that period. It was fine initially, but after that west ham comeback for 3-3 mourinho seemed to go mad, and the football became so tedious I spent most games just scrolling through my phone

Football was absolutely terrible and we were getting proper hidings from the best teams. He was almost entirely reliant on Bale in his first season for goals and when he lost him everything just fell apart.

I think Levy is a massive problem for this club but I can’t really argue with any of the sacking decisions he made although I would argue some of them (primarily Poch and Conte) could have been avoided if we’d invested more in the transfer market on the right players before we let it get to the sacking stage.

Has a manager ever gone back to a club for a second stint and done better than the first time he was there?

Genuine Q.

FWIW, i'd have him back, purely as I think he's the perfect fit for the current squad.

Ancelotti at Real is the one that springs to mind.
