He'll leave once he gets another top offer from Europe I reckon.

No way he's hanging around there till the next world cup.

He takes over a host nation squad, with reasonable expectations and gets paid (i'm sure) handsomely to do so.

I think he manages through the WC and then moves after. But i think he sticks through the WC no matter what.

If Poch does take the USA job I think he will have gone mad. He has still so much more to offer in club management. As someone has already alluded to the worst mistake he made was taking the PSG & Chelsea jobs. He'll be remembered for those failures rather than the excellent work he did with us, Southampton and Espanyol. if he was take a national job then the Argentina one would be it not the USA.

I hope to see him in the prem again or perhaps Europe with a big club.

Sadly he doesn’t have the pull he once had, what’s he won?

His bank account is full to overflowing though. I would like to have made those sorts of mistakes.

No one forced him to take those jobs that ruined his legacy though

Especially the Chelsea role

He’s yesterdays news now and the game has moved on unfortunately for him

I always thought he was a little too focused on promoting himself. He likes high profile jobs, PSG, Chelsea and now the US manager.

It's certainly not the best job around, but it's high profile. I get the feeling his opinion of himself is a lot higher than his level. (These days)

Do you go to work to win stuff / awards / employee of the month or is it for the many bags that drop into your bank every month.

Not really much downside for him outside of him being 2 yrs older when the WC is over. Worst case is USA doesnt win anything (they never do) and he can go find the same level club job that would be available to him right now (mid table Prem). Tanking in international wouldn't hurt his club reputation.

I don't think the Chelsea saga necessarily did anything to harm his reputation as a coach. He did well to make a team eventually out of all the pieces of lego he was given. It was a bit like having a spoilt kid randomly chucking another few sets of lego pieces every now and then on top of the one you're already trying to make the model with.

Seems the hold up is the contract he has with Chelsea. But it apparently has been resolved and should be announced this week.

Not yet. The US training camp is still being run by an interim coach. There are lots of stories suggesting it should be official in the next couple of days.

I think he's probably learnt from the past.

He had an 18 month wait between us firing him and PSG taking him.

He then had another prolonged period before the Chelsea job.

I think he's wanted to get back into it quickly and keep himself in sight of others.

A PL club will fire a coach but it's a big risk to wait for one that suits him.

I can only really think Newcastle and United but Howe won't be getting fired anytime soon and United probably aren't interested anymore.

Most other mid clubs (West Ham, Palace etc) all have new projects so his options may only be clubs fighting toward the bottom.

He won't want to go back to France. Bayern and Dortmund both overlooked him. He doesn't fit Leipzig.

Juventus overlooked him for Motta. Milan chose Fonseca.
Napoli Conte.
No chance Inter fire Inzaghi.
Roma maybe? If De Rossi struggles.

Barca and Madrid. No chance.
Seville? Probably not a good time to go there.
Simone is immovable.

Either he accepts going back to Espanyol or a team of similar level or he just takes any interesting project

I wonder if he just thought it might be an interesting experience for him and his team - no more complicated than that?

Rumblings he'll be at both games also. But yeah wouldn't surprise me if he jumps to United(though I think they are dumb enough to have Southgate lined up) or back here if either job comes available.

Very curious to see how his style works in a national setup where he won’t have as much time with the team or control over their training. I’m also not sure if they have any star players. The biggest names I can think of are Reyna and Pulisic who are both underwhelming in their own ways.
