But he had a year to get it sorted and it only got worse. He had 8 million a year to work it. He failed and got fired. That's what would have happened to all of us if couldn't fulfill our contracts

He had a year to sort it out? He had no funds. What was he going to sort out exactly? SAF always bought in new players, all the club's refresh their squads, except Spurs in the most crucial time. How exactly was Poch going to refresh with no money? Sell Eriksen for £80m when in a year he was free? Same with Jan and Toby. Who would sell us a player if we didn't have the money?

And actually, if we could show employers we are telling them something is wrong, the good ones listen and fix. The shit ones sack and get someone else to get the same shit results and then sack that person too

I just woke up here in China to see the news. I think the writing has been on the wall for a while that Poch would be leaving sooner rather than later
I was sad but we have to pick ourselves up and move on.
Our club is different now - many TOP managers would want to take over (I hope it's not Mourino can't stand anything about him )Reports in China yesterday that Rafa B. wants outta here and to return to prem. I'd like this.
Thanks Poch but something is wrong

Probably good timing for Pochettino. He can sit out for weeks to months and get a plum job in 2020. He's hot property despite what the naysayers on here blather on about and he'll be a big asset at another club. I wish him the very best of luck. He's been an awesome Spurs manager.

For us, I hope we get a big new manager bounce. The new guy will need it because I could see the place turning pretty sour or toxic if we don't build up fairly dramatically. I wouldn't say the new guy has to get top 4 and rescue this season, for example, but I reckon he'd have to threaten those top 4 spots. And then moving ahead, the level Poch set (consecutive top 4s) is the level the new man needs to maintain and that the board expects, presumably, because why sack Poch if it isn't?

We're an attractive proposition for any prospective manager, but he won't be getting a whole lot of time if he performs below the levels Poch achieved (which is a pretty high bar, I should clarify for those who seem to think consecutive top 4s and CL finals are somehow the minimum of achievement we should expect).

I wasn't too happy about sacking Redknapp and a bit ambivalent about Poch's arrival. Hopefully the same process will play out again.

I would also add that our risk of losing prized assets, like Kane, must have increased quite a bit. He'd like to win with us, and presumably that's part of the reason for the managerial change - to show we're not willing to let one season drift. But there's no history now between the players and any new guy, so if the new guy isn't hitting the heights, then Kane and others are more likely to make the decision to 'twist' as well next summer. We'll eventually get that "player turnover" Poch and many others have wanted, but we may not have as much control over the outgoings.

I was never Pochetino's biggest fan, and I totally understand why the board has taken this decision, but I would be lying if I said I don't feel like crying right now. He really has been the most successful coach since I've been a fan, and I will really miss him.

Cause everyone is laughing at us of course. Think about it, it’s a fucking embarrassment. Will be great on the Amazon doc won’t it.
Of all the things that will result from today's events that is the one thing about which I can truly say: Could. Not. Give. A. Fuck.

So you're the manager and you change the way you do things. Your subordinates try to embrace the changes but find they can't do the things that you want them to do. Performance and morale suffers. They ask you to consider changing back to the way things were - or at least to something different from what you're doing - but you don't listen. Performance and morale deteriorates further and your subordinates want to leave. You've had discussions with your boss, who is looking for improvements, but nothing changes; in fact, things are getting worse.

The boss either chooses to let things continue, hoping for an improvement, or he fires you.

Poch could see what was wrong. He didn't 'listen and fix'. He got fired.

Thank you Poch. You and Burkinshaw were the best two managers of my 55 years supporting Tottenham. You gave me such joy over the last 5 years and I loved your humanity and humility in a profession filled with egotistical twats (maureen etc). My Arsenal supporting friends hated that we had got such a good manager and will be delighted you are gone. I know things were not working for nearly a year now and that is too long in modern, top-level football. But I still hoped somehow you would reboot the team and give us another 5 years of the sort of success I never dreamed of through the dark days of Ramos, Sherwood, Villas Boas, Graham, Gross etc. Four, top four finishes, regular Champions League football and one Final.

Mourinho good points.
He's more likely to bring a trophy.
He's less likely to play tippey tappy in the 6yd box.

We'll beat Wham at weekend.
This wont last long lol.

Mourinho bad points.
His brand of football sucks balls.
His mouth and ego are gonna cause several giant shit storms at some point.
This will not be a long term fix.

For me,
I feel dirty putting on a spurs shirt knowing he's our manager. I hate the bloke, everything about him.
I'll miss my Dad as he's just thrown himself under a bus.

I’m hoping Maureen has had a year of intensive Freudian or jungian counselling, where his ego has been broken and rebuilt to a more humble and pleasant, accepting nature. Him coupled with Levy is very interesting

Once a dick, always a dick. Trophies don't feel like theyll cure this feeling at the moment. We've lost our soul.

Poch may have wanted to leave, in fact I'm convinced he did, but who will want to stay long term working with Levy?? Certainly not Jose.

I’m wondering whether things are falling into place with a view to selling the club on: world class facilities, and now a world renowned manager? Winning trophies has never been the be all and end all for me - of course it’s pleasing, and we can point and boast to others - it’s about the way we go about trying to win things. Maybe my view is old fashioned.. I think upon reflection poch will be pleased to have left; and I really want him to go on and win things in a big way.

Leave? Really? Having a world class manager, won every trophy you can name. Odd.
Because Poch has a talent for bringing through good young players and making them better. Jose, for all his past success does not, he prefers to buy in ready made super stars.

As much as I appreciated the youth movement, we could probably use a couple ready-made superstars, tbh.
