Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is “motivated for his next project” – but wants to return to the club one day to finish the job he started.

Totally leave the door open for him if things don’t work out with mourinho. The time he’s had away to rebuild himself will make him ever more motivated to get over the finish line with us.

Would absolutely love this at the right point in time for both parties. A refreshed Poch that has learnt from his first stint (both good and bad) with the burning desire to WIN - yes please!!

I’m surprised that there is literally nothing to misconstrue that or anything to misinterpret - the man clearly wants to return one day. SAF and Whinger had the opportunity to learn at their clubs because, partly, there was nowhere near the level of competition there is now. Poch will go on a spiritual journey away from the poverty stricken and crime riddled place he loves, à-la-Christian Bale-in-Batman-Begins, come back stronger to defeat the evil Arsenal.

I would love this guy to comeback. He clearly needed a break from spurs because their is no way we should be comfortably challenging liverpool, man city and qualifying for CL finals in one minute and literally within months look relegation fodder. Something was clearly wrong and had to change. The decline should have been gradual and not instant.

Since he left, it felt like the club has had something missing and hasnt quite recovered.

That's partly because the current manager hasn't really had time to create his own team. It would be nice to see Poch back one day but it's not going to be in the short to medium term.

To be fair the decline was gradual, we peaked in the 2016/17 season and started to decline since then.

Bored of this nonsense,

Thank him for some great memories and coming so close but part of me will always feel that he wasn’t quite on the top level to get it over the line when we had the best team in the league.

He deserves so much credit for getting us through Wembley and the stadium build. But let’s move on

It's the feeling you get when you're planning to break up with someone but can't bring yourself to do it then they break up with you and you wanna get back together just so you can leave first.

He talks about this like it will happen a long way into the future...I'm not cool with that, 2 years max please Poch!

If he takes the Newcastle job then it probably would be a long time. Hopefully people won't get too hung up on this.

I always think of like when David Brent got made redundant and he kept on hanging about before being told he can't keep coming back to the office

This could work out well, those in charge clearly coveted Mourinho for years and needed to have a go with him to get it out of their system for better or worse - hopefully better. And Poch could probably do well being at a mega club for a few years, winning some bits and having that experience, and getting that out of his system if it was indeed there. Real would of course be ideal, and he then comes back to 'finish what he started'. Whether that happens is another matter, but it could b the ideal scenario. Of course if next season flops with Moutinho and Poch is still out of work, then never say never.

I'll be shocked if Poch doesn't take the Newcastle gig. To be honest, I can't see having him back in the short term is realistic or a great idea because what has changed since he left that would ensure that we don't see another similar situation occuring? I hope that Jose works out because that means winning trophies.

He would need to changes things but I guess he is young enough to learn what went wrong and how to correct it.

He really was loved by the players and fans.
