Hope he recovers well. That set me wondering how Ian Hutchinson is doing. Hutch's throws were way longer than Martin's, and he did a full circle motion with his arms after releasing the ball.

Used to work for Chivers when he ran the Brookman’s Park Hotel. Top man. Introduced me to Ossie at one of the Spurs golf days. All the best Chiv.

God bless him, he died young, loyalties aside, 54 is no age.

That shot v Wolves, in the final. After the powerful header. World class for a few seasons. True legend.
I don't know when the cliche came into regular use but "he's got good feet for a big guy" was often used in praise of Chivers during the 70's.

I was at Molyneux that night in 1972 as well. Honestly, i saw him kick it but thought it had gone out. It was a thunderbolt like you say. Won us that final as we struggled at WHL.

Have to admit it was an anti-climax, dragging it over the line thing..
.
As in 1984. Did great out in Anderlecht (was there also) and similar in the home leg.

Maybe we always want the big flamboyant wins, those ones where we scrape through
are not great to us but other teams settle for a win at all costs ?
