If we think our pressing is bad now imagine how bad it would be with Rashford in the mix.

We need a right winger not a left inside forward with a questionable work ethic.

I could see this happening tho. Depressing.

To be honest, I have no idea how he's been since he left Brighton but he seemed to be mainly injured there too and when he did play, he didn't look great.

I'm not sure he'd even be worth taking as a stop-gap loan because as you say, well break him before he plays.
He was once a very very talented kid and he still has ability. If he could stay fit for a couple of seasons he could still have a successful career but at this stage it would be an idiotic move for us. The PL is not the league for him currently. He should go to France or maybe the Eredivisie would be a good move for him. Get some consistency and build up some confidence.

Guarantee there will be a last ditch loan bid of £10 a week at the 11th hour because we have not done any business

This is exactly the kind of signing we would make right now we are panic stations. Get a known name in regardless of form and then shrug when they do absolutely nothing

Going to assume he’s the unpopular player Prof referred to in his update. Really not sure what he’d even offer us right now, I’d rather give Moore the minutes and persevere with Son than bring Rashford in.

That prof update couldn’t have been more vague if it tried though could it?

Im not going to get worried about it anyway either way. I firmly expect any signing that happens will be a Lange special. The leaks are well and truly sealed.

So much for scouting and data, it's been more like a supermarket sweep when it comes to forward targets this month. There must be a winger out there who fits the profile and can be unearthed, rather than bringing in these high profile, high wage, out of favour loans.

I'd like Grealish
Great, a midfield of Madison and Grealish

Odebert, Moore and Yang fit that bill I think. Perhaps a high profile experienced player from a successful club would make an impact, the right one anyway.

Because there's an audience for it.

Sterling and Rashford got it once they were high profile enough. Kalvin Phillips got it during the Euros a few years back when his profile rose sharply and the press couldn't wait to spill the dirt - including his dad being black and in jail. Football365's mediawatch column points out how black players splash the cash on fancy houses, while white players treat their family to new homes... Even Grealish was a lairy drunk before he became a tabloid darling, but then he became the loveable cheeky chappy because he was successful and largely (if not entirely) kept his nose clean.

Is the audience there because these players largely come from working class backgrounds, and people want them to stay in their lane, or because a lot of them are black? Or both? And would the audience be there if the media didn't feed it? At what point did footballers start earning so much money that they became targets? Johnny Haynes as the first £100 a week footballer? George Best when he was on 10 times that? John Barnes when he was on 10 times what Best earned? Best was arguably the first tabloid target - and gave them a lot of value for their money, I suppose.

Of course, Rashford did something else that certain people despise - he tried to do good, including calling out the government for doing the wrong thing over feeding children. He briefly became a media pariah over it, because how dare he - and then as soon as the politicians and press realised that, actually, public opinion was overwhelmingly on his side he got an OBE and the government backed down. But none of them forgot.

Now Rashford's out of form, and he doesn't have the protection of being a star player for a successful club. So once again he's a target - out partying and flying to America rather than working under the newly-appointed Amorim because... it was the international break and he was given time off. But look at the way that was handled, with even Gary Neville being wheeled out to blast the guy for daring to get away and clear his head. Perhaps he should have called it a mini-retirement?

So I think there's a mix of factors in play, but race is undoubtedly a big part of it. Let's wait and see how long before Liam Delap remains low profile - especially if he gets a big move in the future. And given that we're now seeing players coming through who may just have one mixed-race parent how long until we find out whether the media have a one drop rule for this sort of thing?
Anyone tries to do good things, that are not approved of by a large minority and they’re jumped on by the media. Almost like somebody pays them off to do it. Lol.
