Don’t disagree at all but we are getting very close to massive desperation. Lose tmrw and they may have little choice.

The only saving grace would be if they have a summer target they can bring forward (like Kinsky) or someone we like that we’ll have to overpay for.

I know the plan is/was someone who can cover the whole front line but with this news, we have to do something this month. I hate it because it’s a totally reactive move but our poor planning has left us fucked in defence, in goal for a month and out wide. Not sure we can go a period without a CF as well, given our league position.

Agreed.

With Solanke out, any selling or loaning club will now know that we're desperate for their player and seek better terms.

I believe it's known as a non-Dom tax.

Going to assume he’s the unpopular player Prof referred to in his update. Really not sure what he’d even offer us right now, I’d rather give Moore the minutes and persevere with Son than bring Rashford in.

I hope/expect at least one to cross the line, but that one may not be pleasing to some COYSers.

If it's this you're referring to I took that as only making one signing wont please people, as opposed to the specific player not pleasing people. If that makes sense.

I read that and came here with that exact thought.
What a fucking disjointed mess if we end up scraping Rashford off the bottom of the barrel on the last day.

Meanwhile, City have a blip and go straight out and grab four decent, yet reasonably priced players.

I don't expect much though, so I don't know why I'm bothering to get wound up by it.
Wankers.

Can't say I'd be thrilled if it's Rashford, but he's better than Werner and arguably the current Son.
Also, by registering him instead of Werner for the EL, we could also replace Forster with Kinsky.

The question is who makes way for Spence? A big conundrum as we're only allowed 3 changes for the EL squad.

I know man - on one side he’s not signed so don’t want to get annoyed over something that might not happen.

Just disappointing to see such a lack of any clear strategy at just about any level at the club. Shouldn’t be surprising anymore but hurts all the same.

Im dead against him as a permanent transfer. Couldn’t fit our strategy of the last 18 months any less. But at this point as a loan option to play up top, surely he has to be better than nobody. Because if we play Richy 90 minutes twice a week until Solanke is back he’ll break down. We need options.

It should never have got to this point though. Either summer or the start of the window we should have had realistic options lined up. Not a half arsed, unrealistic attempt at Kolo Muani or a punt on a Rashford type option…

I see where you’re coming from, I gathered from that they went on to speak about someone we would be pleased with being unlikely. That the position seemed to be one you might not be happy with = likely, and one you would be happy with = unlikely.

Might be Ansu Fati - linked by Sport in Spain via bbc gossip a couple of days ago. That wouldn’t please too many either.

Yeah.
I'm normally full of the "let's not get wound up by signings that haven't happened", or "let's see where we are by the end of the window" type stuff but I think I've finally been broken.

Wankers.

That's even more underwhelming than Rashford.
I don’t think he’d last more than a game for us. Played way too much too soon and got a horror injury - has struggled with fitness and form since.

With our style of play and training the kid would fall to bits in a week.

To be honest, I have no idea how he's been since he left Brighton but he seemed to be mainly injured there too and when he did play, he didn't look great.

I'm not sure he'd even be worth taking as a stop-gap loan because as you say, well break him before he plays.

Only real positive that I can see with a move like this - Rashford is more likely to pressure Levy to get the Cheese Room...
