As long as we signed a 3rd winger of higher quality than these 2 then these 2 would be good squad additions for different reasons.

This will have no impact on the Edwards decision. Japh was never going to stay anyway, as he hasn't been part of our squad for a while.

We can leave the spot empty. We don't actually need to name a full squad and obviously we can also bring our youth to pad out the numbers. It's just a case of wanting to name the full 25 so we have the strongest squad possible in order to go as far as we can in the comp. Considering we have Donley, Hall, Devine etc I don't see why we couldn't use them more prominently in the comp.
The only issue comes is if we have a too many non HG players then we might be in a position of having to leave one or two unregistered which could cause an problem. I certainly get why we would be interested in bringing someone back but i'm not sure its entirely essential depending on who else we bring.

Max 17 Foreign trained (no minimum)
Max 4 Association trained Over 21 (no minimum)..
Max 4 Club Trained Over 21 (no minimum).
We will want at least a UEFA squad of 23 (two per position + 3rd GK).
Which means Austin + ONE club trained in our main rotation of 22 (two per position).
Skipp takes squad space 24 or 25 so isn't really the issue, can replace his minutes with an U21 if needs be.
All this means EITHER Parrott as back up striker (Kulu as sole 10 rotation - no Eze etc, OR Kulu as RWF rotation - no dribbly winger).
OR Edwards / KWP.
Without Davies in the main 22 rotation we also need another Association trained OR Club trained to register Bergvall until 2026 (when he becomes B List U21 eligible).

On this, what would this mean for someone like Doue if we signed him? Would he be eligible for both PL and UEFA due to being U-21?

PL would be fine but not for EL, same for Bergvall, both will need to be registered.

Surely the answer is to leave a space in the squad blank (I'm assuming Skipp finds a new club) and give some of the u21s a chance if needed.

Its funny - many of the people who want to bring Edwards back, are also the same people who complain when the path is blocked for academy lads.
