Madrid dennying this, although they would i suppose.

Personally i always thought Bale suffered a lot of niggling type injuries and given his young age and physical conditioning i can only see him getting more and more injuries as his career continues.

I doubt he has slipped a disk, but probably the condition is worse that Madrid are letting on.

Regardless it's very dangerous being out of the Madrid team for any significant amount of time as they simply find a replacement who then can't be benched when you come back to fitness.

From a playing perspective i imagine Bale could have a rocky time at Madrid.

I hope this isn't serious, I know as Spurs fan we have a collective smug grin on our faces at the moment but no player deserves to have a career riddled with injuries, I personally hope he gets over his injuries and goes onto fulfill his potential.

I'm going to look at this from both the smug POV and the human POV.

The smug POV is mildly happy that Madrid are getting payback for the media onslaught they spent all summer doing. The human POV is that it somewhat sucks that Bale has got his big move, yet he's hit setback after setback already (especially since the fans don't seem that convinced by him.)

I'm still not sure if I'm rooting for him but it'd be nice if he at least gets a chance of a career there.

As I said on twitter one of the reason he was injured alot with us early on was because he had a bad back injury as a result of growing

So it seems strange it has come back as it was said he grew out of it

They say its a ticking a time bomb as to when it needs surgery, which means if we found out we have screwed them over as paying £86million for player who could be out of the season at anytime could hugely affect his value

I don't want to have his career finished by an injury.

I just want it so that when he looks back on his career when it's finally done - his best days were with Spurs and he'll realise he should never have left!

If it is serious, I can't be pleased about it. Bale is a class, talented player and if his career were to be cut short by injury or means he is unable to play for an extended period of time it would be a shame.

However, I had and expressed a strong feeling that things wouldn't work out for him in Spain but I bear him no grudge and hope that I was wrong. I think he came under a lot of pressure to leave and, even though his was the final decision, if he has made a mistake I won't be gloating about it.

We have screwed them anyway even if he was fit as he is worth nowhere near 86 million.

I disagree in a world where Cavani is £55million
A player with one year left on his contract is £45million

£86million for the best player in the PL four years before his prime isnt crazy espicially considering they will make alot of money from him

They made like £10million on the day he signed from the private healthcare company doing his medical and them having their logo's everywhere

On the one hand I like Bale and think it would be nice if he is successful.

On the other hand I hate Madrid and anything that comes back to bite them as a result of their tapping up of other teams' players is a good thing.

It's a fucked up world.
He had one season where he did fantastic up front, if he repeats that fine, but just after one season? I think Clive Allen scored 50 goals in 1987, he'd be worth 200 million if that happened now. If Madrid is playing him on the wings then it isn't worth paying all that money for him because he won't get the goals, no goals the supporters become restless.
I see a Woodgate scenario here.

I'd say Cavani has done more to justify his price tag than Bale. Cavani has performed for multiple seasons in Italy banging in over 30 goals a season for 3 seasons straight. Can't think of many strikers in the world who have done that.

Bale transfer made no sense anyway as he basically plays in Ronaldo's position and only one player is going to win that contest.

And yet most people are ignoring the fact that Madrid are denying everything in Marca. Although, Madrid are ****s so they could be lying

I just want to show these quotes from Barnett to show what a fucking **** he is:http://www.goal.com/en-my/news/3895...0/bale-injury-reports-are-nonsense-says-agent

"I spoke to a reporter from Marca, I told him: ‘It’s complete rubbish,' and yet they still print it," the agent told La Sexta.

"Whatever they say is a lie.
"He passed the medical, he’s 100 per cent fit, there’s no problem. He’s the most expensive transfer in history; if there was a problem, they [Madrid] would have stopped the transfer.

"How stupid and irresponsible of Marca to have run such a stupid story. There is no problem. He has a slight tear in his thigh, he’ll be fit to play hopefully after the internationals.
"He [Bale] is angry, not sad. He’s angry that a newspaper can write such rubbish. We won’t be speaking to anybody else about this one story and we will never speak about it ever again, it’s complete rubbish."

WHAT A FUCKING BELLEND- HE IS THE ONE THAT SPOKE TO MARCA ABOUT BALE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND STARTED THE SPECULATION ABOUT THE MOVE TO MADRID AND TURNED BALE'S HEAD.

What a hypocrite- what an absolute ****.

I disagree, Bale is famous around Europe(I cant think of any other player who did this) for having a great season in the CL and what he done not one player has done since that i can remember. I mean remember before that match Maicon was consider the best RB IN THE WORLD!!! and overnight he was a joke and turned in to Gilberto!

As for Bale he has won 2 player of the years by the age of 24 and this season in the second of half the season he was close to having a goal a game and actually had more goals and/or assists per game at the end of the season since that norwich match.

The guy was playing like Ronaldo in England as for Cavani, he is a striker and should score goals and historically Strikers have always been cheaper than AM/No.10's as they can win matches on their own. Bale did that he won matches on his own.

As for Cavani he is two years older and isnt a Brand like Bale, he wont bring in the money Bale will and that is a reason imo at the time I felt we let him go cheaper imo Bale is worth more than £86million to US though as we are missing out on alot of money by him leaving. Sponsor would love a big name attached to their product and we had the biggest name in the PL which is the strongest league in terms of commercial value, competitiveness/quality and probably audience in the world.

But I agree doesnt make sense to sign Bale but not because of Ronaldo but because their defence is dogshit

What I read this morning was that Perez was aware of a back problem but wanted the deal done regardless.

The Spurs backroom staff have devised a special fitness programme for the Welshman who has suffered postural difficulties dating back to his time at Southampton

EXCLUSIVE
By Wayne Veysey | Chief correspondent in Madrid

Tottenham have devised a tailor-made exercise programme for Gareth Bale to ease his pain from back-related injuries and get him fit for the club's biggest match in a generation, Goal.com UK can reveal.

The 21-year-old midfielder has suffered from unique postural problems since he was a youth-team player coming through the ranks at Southampton.

Sources close to the player have revealed that Bale has been given a strict programme of regular exercises by his club, Tottenham, to correct the genetic posture condition.

It is said to be key to the midfielder overcoming the problems that have blighted him this year and fulfilling his potential as one of the outstanding young players in Europe.

Bale has completed only one match since suffering a back injury at the end of January that led to a six-week lay-off and has contributed to a series of niggling injuries to his hamstrings, thighs and groin.

There has been doubt about whether he would recover in time for the first leg of Spurs’ Champions League quarter-final clash with Real Madrid but fitness and medical staff at White Hart Lane are confident that if Bale adheres to the procedure he can be pain-free for the season run-in.

“Gareth has had postural problems for six or seven years, before he broke into the first team at Southampton,” a source told Goal.com UK. “It is just the way he is built. He is going to be more at risk of the type of injuries he has been getting.

“People have very different postures that affect their spines. Some people have more load based on their posture, so it is about reducing the load that goes through the body.

“Surgery will not solve it. If he was to have surgery, Gareth will still be built in the same way.”

Bale's problems are not too dissimilar to those suffered by Steven Gerrard when he first emerged on the scene at Liverpool a decade ago. After being forced into frequent back-related problems that also affected his groin, hamstrings and thighs, a French osteopath changed the Liverpool man's posture and manipulated his body back into shape.

Similarly, there are no fears among the Tottenham staff that Bale’s conditions cannot be treated.

“It is very easily managed,” explained the source. “Gareth has a programme to get his back aligned and get his body in sync that is set by the people who work with him [at Spurs].

“Basically, they are a series of correctal, floor-based mat exercises to keep him in a stable position, including ones that switch the glutes on, switch the core muscles on and alleviate the hamstrings.

“Gareth does certain exercises on set days depending on the intensity of the days. He is learning how to manage and understand his body. The soreness and tears and strains are all similar symptoms.”

The latest problem to dog Bale following his recovery from the back problem has been the hamstring injury that forced him to sit out Wales’ Euro 2012 qualifier against England 10 days ago.

However, the midfielder has made good progress under the watchful eyes of his club’s medical and fitness staff. He returned to full first-team training last Thursday following three days of conditioning and non-football exercises.

Although Bale was absent from Spurs’ goal-less draw against Wigan Athletic at the weekend, it was partly with the Real Madrid clash in mind.

He trained with his team-mates at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday night and manager Harry Redknapp said the Welshman will play against Jose Mourinho’s team if he suffers no setback from the final session before the match.

With Cristiano Ronaldo also passed fit by Mourinho, there is the mouthwatering prospect of two of the world's most exciting wide players crossing swords. The Portuguese had played some mind games about Ronaldo's fitness in the build-up but Redknapp was convinced he would always feature.

“He’s a certainty,” Redknapp said before adding: “Real Madrid are one of the great clubs of world football. Maybe they are the favourites but there is a confidence that we can do the job.”

That confidence has been boosted with the knowledge that William Gallas was able to train on Monday and he is set to take part in a match which Spurs may go into with two goalkeepers on the bench because of a crippling injury list.

Steven Pienaar, who has not travelled because of a groin complaint, and Niko Kranjcar, with a sore foot, are the latest to drop out. Defensive options, in particular, are depleted, with long-term victims Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate no closer to a return and Alan Hutton ruled out for the rest of the season after having knee surgery.

“This will be our most difficult game so far,” Redknapp said. “I do think that whoever wins the Champions League will have to beat the two Spanish teams.”
