I’d sell him, yes he has some lovely press resistant moments but our 6 is so key to stopping counters and he just always gets caught out, doesn’t track runner, is positionally poor.

Agree, until we stop shipping so many goals. We are so open (set pieces still not addressed) and we cant always rely on out scoring the opposition.
I thought that one of the biggest issues last year was building from the back. Our defence is fine on the ball but both Bissouma (when off form) and Bentancur would regularly lose the ball when receiving the ball facing their own goal. We consistently put ourselves under pressure, so I think a proper 6 and proper winger are the two major needs. And neither have been addressed so far (although Gray may be the long term answer).

I think our midfield needs improving. I know we are stacked there but if a decent option turns up we'd be crazy to use that as the reason not to upgrade. Plenty of time left in the window to move on Bissouma or Skipp too.

probably nothing in this. On the “name” it sounds amazing. But the price being so low has me really concerned he truly has fallen off a cliff.

That happens because they are asked to repeatedly come and get the ball under pressure facing their own goal. I think you're massively underestimating how hard it would be to find a number 6 that's significantly better at receiving and beating the press in our team. And if you do find them, we'd be needing to break our club record fee to sign them.
I agree that it would be a big fee for someone ready-made to come in. My point is that IMO it should have been a priority to find that person and spend the money to fix that issue.

But Locatelli is a seriously good CM, but we'd also need a back-up LB and top class RW and even then we'd probably still be a season to early to be real title contenders but it would pull us closer at least given the quality we'd have available to us.

Yeah, but then they would be favorites. And we know how they handle pressure like that.
I doubt this system would ever be able to make us title contenders. Yeah maybe an incredible 6 might help and a RW but just can’t ever see us not conceding a lot of goals

they were ridiculously lucky with injuries. imagine they have similar injury crisis as ours. probably still can compete for top 4 but not contenders

I think both have until January to prove they are the answer.
Certainly don't think either have done that so far, despite flashes of quality.
