Thats the bit that made me angry last night.
Performance was shit, but the first goal came from a defensive error followed by a goalkeeping error, defenders make mistakes, Gazza is only filling in, I get that.
But the penalty was just so fucking stupid to give away.
Just think if we hadn't gone to the WC none of this would have happened.

The team was far too spread out and didn’t defend like a tight unit.

The two wide men need to support the midfield more.

It's like our players expect to win just because they turn up. Wonder where these guys got this much arrogance from cause you need to win a sextuple like Barca before you can afford to be this arrogant.

I’ve got say watching it back with a calm head it was nowhere near as bad as it seemed in real time. Which the stats also confirm 54% of the ball. 5 on target to their 7. Did we play great ? No. But the whole game was pretty even apart from a 10-15 minute spell in the 1st half from about 20-35 minutes. The biggest thing for me was just how easy we let them come on to us. Winks especially was just always on the back foot and never tried to engage their forwards when they ran at us. I think Sissoko Sanchez Aurier have had particularly bad rap they really weren’t that bad at all. Yes Sanchez probably should have gone row z, Aurier got megged can happen to anyone and Sissoko didn’t even foul him just stood on his foot. Moura was absolutely dreadful in every aspect and massively culpable for Rashford having so much space.

Worst thing is Vardy got fouled in a similar way last night with more contact to shin and foot and VAR declared it no penalty and he got a yellow for diving!!! It was meant to make things more consistent but all its done is highlight how inconsistent things are!!!

The issue is that these days if you make a clumsy challenge in this climate you are giving away a foul every time and when you know that you make it inside the penalty area that's just plain stupidity as everyone knows what the outcome is going to be, standing on someone's foot inside the area 99 times out of 100 is an invitation for a opposition player to go down in the box whether or not the have the ball, especially if their momentum is taking them forward, and in almost every case a penalty will be awarded. Sissoko can't say he wasn't warned, in the first half of the he clumsily stuck a leg out and gave away a dangerous free kick on the edge of our box that we were very nearly punished for that, so to repeat something similar in the same game is reckless.
The really frustrating part of this game was that we weren't outclassed at all, we were simply shown up for not showing even half the effort and commitment that Man Utd gave last night, and that's why we lost the game. If we'd matched them for effort and commitment, I'm convinced that we'd have got at least a point from that game and possibly more than that, so to that extent this loss was very avoidable. There are quite a few players last night who should take a good look in the mirror who should be asking themselves whether they put in a shift, and if they were to answer honestly they should be answering no. Even Dele alluded to that, although in my opinion, he was one a the very few in our team last night who did put a shift in.

It's one of those that away at Old Trafford/Anfield...9 times out of 10 it's given.
Anywhere else probably not.
That's why it was just daft in the context of the match.
