That's MUFC RB position sorted for the next decade. The cost will look peanuts if he continues with this progression. Many were scoffing when MUFC paid £30m for Rio in 02, didn't look so expensive by the time SAF retired!!!

It isn't even done yet.

Rio was no risk at all when they signed him. He’d proven himself at West Ham, Leeds and for England.

AWB has had one good season.

I like him, but that is a ridiculous amount of money for a young right back with one season under his belt.

Agree but also there really hasn't been any indication we were interested other than AliZ and others saying we won't pay their price. Also who knows if 55m is accurate, the base plus add-ons, or the max, etc.

Just an opinion but I’m guessing we definitely were, albeit not nearly at the level being discussed.

My guess is we’ll go after Aarons instead who probably represents better value, if we can get him

Will be disappointed if we sell both Aurier and Tripp’s for around 40 combined and didn’t get in the running for this.

Exactly- I’d want to see another season before spending probably more than a third of our budget on a player

I like him, but as I said earlier, from watching him last night he’s very one footed, which can cause issues when defending and might explain why he often has to go to ground.

How many fullbacks are really proficient with both feet?

jesus christ, since when has kicking the ball in your own net not been an own goal?

Probably since the ball taking 4 deflections and a bus trip around the stadium before going into the net and still being attributed to Crouch lol

He's proven in the PL and we should be getting him now. After another season he'll be out of reach.
We should be getting him for less than 55–70 million Palace will demand in a transfer window where the fat wedge of our funds are going towards improving midfield. I’m not saying he’s crap, just that the timing’s wrong in that we’re reinforcing elsewhere at what will probably be big money

yeah you couldn't argue your point, tried to defend it by being sarcastic about a point I never made suggesting saying it was an own goal means he's not good enough and I'm the pleb, pathetic.
Why does everything need to be an argument? Thats the problem with you. I said it was harsh because he had to go for the ball. You started using words like binary etc and later pathetic. I quickly agreed with you so not to get into a word war but you couldn't resist so that's why you're a pleb.

You went for the personal insult first and prior to that decided to throw your little tantrum sarcasm out, don't try and spin it and claim it's the problem with me when you were throwing out the sarcasm and insult first.

I think you may have to be prepared to be disappointed as I just dont see us dropping 50m on a RB - it just doesn't fit in with how we operate.

Wow. Ok, if you say so. I apologise

I'm not being sarcastic this time. I'm generally offering an olive branch. Im more likely wrong and it won't be the first or last time...to suggest AWB's own goal was harsh was silly and in fairness to you, you backed it up...stupidity incurred with me not backing that statement up.

Yeah I'm sorry if you felt like I was getting at you also, I was debating in good faith initially but when you assumed I must think he's shit then I was more blunt. I think he's a great player but his value is crazy but I hate when people take criticism of a player as meaning he's not good enough.

The way I see it is, it's a hell of a lot of money to spend on someone who is relatively unproven.

See how Zaha faired moving to a different part of the country and playing for manure.

It isn't just whether he can adjust to the team and the difference on sie of club but it will be also massive as to how to he can adjust living in Manchester and away from everything familiar.

I was in the army from 19 amd loved it but for everyone who loved it and was happy there were individuals who were homesick amd desperate to quit. Yes could be a signing for 10 years but it could just as easily be a signing for 10 minutes
