Let's change the subject from 'Fergie throwing boots at the players' and 'Mourinho yelling at the physio'.

Watching the game and hearing Mourinho and Sacramento talking from the sideline last night, was a good insight in how they operate. Constantly talking and prepping the lads as the match went on - keeping them sharp for the next attack/defense build up. Even Joe Hart kept his back line sharp by dictating Toby and Sanchez.

I hated him before he came here, I was completely wrong (pretty common) about him. Love the guy now.
I remember being very keen on him before he came to Chelsea... I believe we were linked with him before Abramovich took over. He did amazing work with Porto, and he was a student of Bobby Robson's pragmatism. You don't spend all that time in the company of some like that and become an unpleasant person. A lot of his signatures, like his prickly demeanour with the press, protecting his players by taking the spotlight to an extent... that's stuff that Robson did, especially at Ipswich and England.

I think that to an extent, working in those high profile jobs, with the best players and unlimited funds, may have spoiled him a bit... the poison chalice that is Man Utd post Fergie being his nadir. But even before getting plenty of distance from the Poch era, I've been fascinated to see what he can do at a club like ours.

Honestly, if he achieves success with us then I think that will be his greatest achievement since the CL with Porto. And Spurs is likely where we'll get to see the 'real' Mourinho.

Is there a point here?

@Shadydan for your haha on a post from March... futile conversation really as there’s no way to prove it either way. I will argue the evidence suggests that the reports of unhappiness and unprofessionalism were overblown and inconsistent with what Ndombele had said. Ndombele just needed time to settle to a new league and country - something we’ve seen time and again and was supported by the amazon doc. Publicly blasting him was needlessly antagonistic when he just needed time.

You will say it’s Mourinhos tough love that made the difference and without that he was less likely to come good.

Ultimately we won’t know either way. Well just be left with your sad, little passive aggressive behaviour on a football forum :)

All this for a rating, wash the sand out of your vagina and chill the fuck out :ROFLMAO:

I find it funny that your mantra and go to phrase it 'time will tell' or 'let's wait and see' but you're constantly making snap judgements based on your confirmation bias - perhaps don't do that, you might find that people don't laugh at you which in turn you won't have any hurt feelings and then we're all happy.

i'm loving that we are backing the manager. It makes me feel like a big club going after someone like inters CB. Regulion is the type of player a Chelsea would normally snap up too. I know this is a strange quest to break the trophy hoodoo but success breads success. the next manager will inherit a stronger team for it.

it does make me a bit sad that Poch didn't get a 50m CB, or a Bale-wages player, or the equivalent resource thrown at a striker when we were millimeters away from glory. Maybe that speaks to Mourinho's flexibility with targets (and pull), maybe baldy has woken up a bit. Maybe the new stadium allows us to take out more low cost debt to finance the push (as all clubs do against their assets).

either way, the direction gives me hope. I still sit in the Mourinho camp that he is a winner and knows how to win, and how to get there.... lets hope he doesn't turn out to be massively shit and out of date.

but for the moment. we are acting like a sensible big club. go for it lads.

When you think about it, the peak Poch era was when we were tearing down the Lane, playing at Wembley, and then moving into the new gaff. That sort of money was never going to be there, which is why doing what we did over those seasons was so impressive.

As you say, we're pretty stable again, and the stadium allows us some flexibility (if we ever get some fans in there again).

Filha is denigrating a woman according to the articles. Filho is the male equivalent.

Anyway, whatever... I'm done with the thread derailing.
It depends on how it's used. Elders sometimes call younger ones Filha or Filho but if there is a strong undertone then yeah it can be nasty.

But the point is, it's used very very frequently, I hear it in the street often. In fact I was alarmed at how dirty the language is here. Jose would have said it in anger and it's not nice to hear but it's no more than saying "dickhead"

I wonder whether the current situation only makes it appear that JM is being backed more than MP.
Technically speaking we did get a CB of Poch's choosing for £42m in Sanchez and we had players like Adebayor on pretty hefty wages when Poch took over (I think).

I suspect as you say the stadium has given Levy more confidence that we can spend a bit more without jeopardizing the club's position. I can't see any other part of the picture that needs completing to make us a big club other than trophies.

Well, time will tell whether he can convert it into consistent performances on the pitch, bit you would have to say he seems to have Levy in the palm of his hand so far when it comes to transfers. We’ve never before had a manager with either the pulling power or more importantly the contacts that this guy has. Not a coincidence in my opinion that Real have suddenly decided to give us a fairly reasonable deal on two good players when we’ve got absolutely zilch from our “special relationship“ before, and we now look to be doing a deal with another of his former clubs for Skriniar. Obviously there are Mendes clients we’re looking closely at as well. I think he’s playing it smart in terms of being pragmatic and flexible in terms of his list, but he also has Levy by the bollocks in a lot of these deals since he has close ties to all parties. If there’s a deal to be done then Jose will know exactly what the terms are, he isn’t gonna settle for “sorry the deal was getting too expensive” if he knows for a fact it isn’t... and/or there is a player he would happily let go to balance the books. Interesting to watch.

So true. it’s what in that hand that worries me. ?

It is a bit sad when you think about that (Poch).

However, and I'm not suggesting for one minute it was easy, if Poch had been able to take the CL final as if it was the beginning and not the end, we MAY have seen a different approach.

He clearly wanted big changes and had probably deserved the time to get those changes but if he wasn't willing to compromise then I don't understand how he could have expected a big rebuild?

We needed big players certainly, and he got a couple in Lo Celso and Ndombele , but he needed to be more accepting of alternative options in other positions.

Jose has accepted the likes of Hart, Hojbjerg and Doherty as it allows him to bring in more expensive players elsewhere. If Poch was saying I want Ndombele, Lo Celso and others at the higher end of the scale yet then rejecting alternatives as the club couldn't afford to spend 200m+ on rebuild then that was always going to prevent his rebuild.

Tielemans, Brooks, etc - these additions would have allowed us to keep refreshing. Unfortunately Poch didn't seem to accept that. Big shame but like I said perhaps the years of being shrewd under him killed his motivation.

I completely agree with your first sentence.

As for the second part that I left in.......I'd like to see the evidence of more than one prolific and sensible transfer window before I'd agree completely with that.

Agree - the problem with the argument of "alternatives" is the subjectiveness of what makes a player suitable. Someone could offer Edouard as an alternative to Moralos - the ordering or preference isn't indicative of the quality or cost, but sometimes down to many other factors.

Nobody’s feelings have been hurt. Talking of snap judgements...

“All this” was a paragraph. Less effort I imagine than finding a post from before anyone had suffered any covid restrictions. ;)

I would guess you’re either very young or very single if you assume others set much store in the opinions of other on a football forum. Maybe just be nice instead of points scoring?

Seen this before and absolutely love this from Sir Bobby, tearing up watching that man speak as he was a truly special man and is dearly missed but if Sir Bobby is saying good things about Jose that should be good enough for anyone, ultimate sign of respect.

Asks me to be nice and to stop point scoring yet it's okay to make a massive assumption in order to...point score, gotcha.

How about we just both stop, your posts mildly irritate me, maybe it was the posts about Aurier brother you were so adamant he was guilty....yet another snap judgement, shock - stick me on ignore, I'll kindly do the same to you (y)

Yes its no worse than saying FFS Dele and in fact can be quite similar in meaning
It's generally not aimed specifically at someone
more of an expression of exasperation.
El hijo de puta/ Son of a bitch is very common and often used in the same way to express surprise or exasperation.

• ¡Ni puta idea! (I’ve got no fucking/bloody idea!) Very flexible in Spanish.
But yes it can be nasty. Spin Mourinho's use how you like
