Not being funny but what’s he going to say in a room full of journalists filming him? “Nah, fuck off can’t be bothered?”

I’m sure he said what he did because he wants to, though, but it does make me think, was Jose always like this and I’m a **** for not seeing past my tribal allegiances or has he changed since being with us? Probably not the latter but I suppose a lot of us change and get more mellow as we get older.

What changed my opinion of him, was when he played that charity match for the Greenfell charity a few years back.
One of the most high profile managers in world football, who's never played at a high level just putting himself out there.
He played in goal and was pretty awful, he'd have known that, but didn't give a fuck and did it for charity.
Thought it was a classy move.

That’s actually quite a nice story I wasn’t aware of. You’re a little sweetie aren’t you, mate.

He is a classy guy.
He puts on a front for the media but at heart he's a very caring guy, he can't not be having won that many trophies you have to have some sort of good connection with players staff and people. Not a huge fan of his style of football but as a person I think Jose is a good guy and quite miss-understood.

It was funny, it went to penalties and he was playing mind games trying to put the takers off.
You could just tell he'd do anything to win, he was deadly serious throughout...even in a meaningless charity match.

He didn't save one I don't think...didn't even get near one lol.

I think he was very arrogant early in his managerial career and it put a lot of people off. Thing is you can be both arrogant professionally and also a nice guy.

He's clearly far more humble than he was which is why many Spurs fans who hates the idea of him being here are warming to him.

I never bought into the arrogant persona to be honest, I always felt like it was all a big performance to give his teams confidence in his methods and to embrace the whole "us against the world" storyline. For all of his boasting and ego-inflating, he's always given full credit to his players for their achievements and knows he wouldn't be where he is without them.

Not sure about Jose being a ‘nice guy’. I have ITK from someone I know who worked on Amazon doc that said all our players were really friendly and nice but Jose was ‘vile’. He actually said they could have really ruined him with some of the footage they have that didn’t make the final cut.

There are quite few stories with him though. That guy from South America back in Madrid, what he did for the ball boy, this etc.

I have known quite a few people like him through the years. Hardly statistically significant, but all of them have always been surprisingly nice people one on one.

He can still be a grumpy %%" at times, but I don't mind. So sick of people not being allowed to have any weaknesses. Ferguson, Clough etc. all went off the boil at times, but that was rarely where "all" the attention went.

I dont doubt it but that has to be a coach's worst nightmare having that film crew around all the time when all you want to do is your job.

And yet there are countless stories of him being very warm and generous with his time, including from our own AllyG.

I guess like most of us, he can be a lovely ****, and he can be a nasty ****. He is definitely an intelligent **** though.

His job isn’t to be nice to people, it is to get performances from his squad and win things. Think that is why he built up the persona he had to deflect away from his players over the years and give the arrogance and confidence that the clubs supporters of whoever he managed the feeling that yeah we can go and beat anyone. He breeds confidence wherever he goes.

TV programme on Clough a couple of years ago. John McGovern who followed him from club to club, said he would walk over broken glass to play for him, but would not want to go for a drink with him.
Plenty worse than Mourinho.
If anyone crossed Ferguson that would be the end of it. He was a bully also but very good company at other times.
None of these people are perfect. We’ve all got faults.
At a football club there can only be one boss, and he has got to stay on top of everyone. Footballers will soon start to take the kick if they see a weakness . AVB at Chelsea....they just messed him about as they didn’t want him.
Man U players didn’t want Moyes.

That’s weird, as I met someone who deals with Jose daily, and is probably in the background of the Amazon doc, who said to me he’s a lovely guy. So it’s interesting that how different interactions must be interpreted.

This guy has no reason to lie to me but as you say it’s merely his interpretation of Jose’s behaviour.

I’d suggest we’ll give Jose this season, and if we get no return he’ll be gone.. I’m not enamoured by his ‘skills’, but I’m open to this next 40+ games. Does he spend big to buy his team ? Like Chelsea et al. I think he does. I’d love to be proved wrong Currently, I’m not his greatest fan
