What if they were Tielemans and Maddison then?
Dele is better than Maddison plus he seems to be bit of a **** and hates Tottenham, Tielemans would have been ok but nothing too amazing. Pereira would have really helped us if we are talking about Leicester players and Poch wanted him and he was definitely obtainable for a realistic sum.

Yep. If anyone cares to dig up the Tielemans thread it says, from memory, that we were offered him when his loan at Leicester finished but Poch didn’t want him. I’m certain ITK and the papers said the same. Now I’m not saying he was the answer (and from memory I don’t think I was that for it) but he’d be first choice in our central midfield now.

Makes sense given some of the public statements from Poch on this to the effect that he didn't want to sign anyone unless they were going to make us better - that would still have left about 20 players per position we could have gone after.

Because he was repeatedly given the likes of Nkoudo!!

I’d be the damn same myself. Why bother adding additional fodder when you’re working miracles.

2020 Dele? You sure? Dele would struggle to get into most teams in the top 8, because he is the optimum of a luxury player that doesn't have enough quality for the real top teams like Liverpool and City, nor the work rate / discipline for Wolves / Sheff United.

Would genuinely be one of the first players i would sell in our current squad, considering his age and price and the lack of balance his play brings to our team.

Then you'd be sitting in the job centre mate.

You really need to move on, this messiah like hold Poch has over you... its a bit sad.

That's such nonsense rhetoric. That same window he also got Wanyama, Janssen and Sissoko. Yes Janssen flopped but he was highly rated at the time.

The window before he got, Son, Alderweireld, Trippier, N'Jie and Wimmer.

Sure not all the players worked out, but he got players during those windows and the Nkoudou's and N'Jie's are in the minority of those players.

We've also had ITK and Pochs own words backing up the fact that he didn't have any alternative options in most cases.

Anyway this is the Mourinho thread, so I'll leave the Poch discussion here for now.

I see what you’re saying with regards to Njie etc being amongst the midst of other good signings but the point is that it appears that Poch refused to entertain any signing that wouldn’t immediately improve our first XI after 16/17 and I fully agree. That wasn’t the time for prospects it was the time to move that final inch and levy let him down.

So basically only a couple of players in all of football would have improved our first XI? You might not like hearing it but that is the way it was. Those specific players(that he knew with weeks of the window to go were ungettable) or nothing.

Yes that’s the point. We were on the cusp and Poch deserved a few 50m+ signings after his 16/17 season. Instead he relented the bullshit options presented besides Lucas.

yep, I remember this from JJ. (Can’t remember if you posted about him p or not).

I‘ve always been sceptical about Poch and his ability to spot a player In the transfer market. Got plenty of neg reps on the posts to show for it!

I’ve a theory about it actually but want to see how his time plays out at his next club just to cancel out Levy’s role in it (or not).

Of course he will. Levy is why I don't think the Amazon stuff will be half as graphic or informative as a lot on here are hoping it will.
The Amazon documentary will be like one of those murder documentaries where they talk in great detail about the case and suspects only to tell you at the end it’s unsolved!
