I’d be more inclined to give Poch the time because we knew what he was trying to achieve having seen Southampton play. With giving Mourinho time, it’s based only on waiting for the trophies to arrives. All our eggs are in the one basket and that basket has seen better days.
We're in no position to be picky. We've won fuck all for ages.

There’s no right or wrong with hypotheticals. Just opinion. Such as the opinion that you’re just trolling me now and I’m not really one to get caught up in that nonsense but good luck with it (y)

I love nonsense though, as do you - hypothetically of course.

Oof not sure about that. Have a look back if you can because a lot of posters were aghast at the possibility of him getting the job.
Yeah, but pathways and defending? You can see why people on here wanted him.

He won’t get the same budget from Levy to repeat his League Cup and Europa League heroics.

I remember everyone saying Wenger was ‘finished’ when he was only winning FA cups on a smaller budget than Mourinho had at United...whilst playing better football.

We could have Pep or Klopp and we'd get the same thing we had under Poch. We'd play decent stuff I guess but ultimately they wouldn't be given the necessary nudge by the board to get us over the line in terms of silverware and they'd get disillusioned before it all crumbles. Although they are great coaches, let's not forget they weren't achieving anything spectacular results wise until they were given full backing in the transfer market.

The only way Levy's model of negligence works is through the greatest academy in the world to fill the inevitable gaps in the squad and with a manager that can perform miracles and adapt the tactics to what he has. Oh and at the same time a manager that can deal with an uncertain dressing room through players outstaying their welcome at the football club because DL won't take financial hits for the good of the team. Pretty much impossible.

To be fair, I can understand fans calling for Mourinho's head from this point of view. If you think it's impossible for us to win regularly with the current structure (which it is) then I can see why some might want us to underachieve at least playing some decent stuff.

There's no point to having Jose if Levy doesn't leave or step aside from football operations.

Really interesting points.

On this last point, I think we know the answer and if this is the case, we're pretty much looking forward to a prolonged period of nothingness. Levy and Jose are the perfect storm to bring us to our knees. I'll end up craving the days of Sugar and Francis at this rate.

I wouldn't underestimate how much of Mourinho's pride is taking a beating. I would not be surprised if there is a release clause or if he walked in the Summer if no European football. I am NO fan of Mourinho. I think he is yesterday's man. I think we need a bright young coach and I personally would cash in on Kane.

However, you take your 2 main strikers out of any PL team, and they will struggle. You cant hold that against Mourinho.

He bashed one player who hasn’t exactly set the world alight and is incredibly lazy as well.
From the Guardian: Given also that for weeks their manager has been telling everyone who will listen how weak they are.
“One team is much stronger,” José Mourinho claimed in his post-match press conference, arguing that every single RB Leipzig substitute would have made it into the Tottenham team. Hear that, Harry? José rates Amadou Haidara above you. Hear that, Hugo Lloris? José would replace you with Yvon Mvogo.
It's just a constant stream of excuses from him in his last 3 and a bit jobs. Yes were in the shit, yes we need reinforcements but when the narrative is consistently negative from the one person you need to believe in the players that's a hard trajectory to turn round with a pre-season and a sprinkling of signings.

I wouldn't have minded. A lot of posters seem to think that he's not a Tottenham level manager though - whatever that is. He was talked about during the last few months of Poch's tenure but I got the impression that only a few posters were keen. Question is though - does Levy rate him highly enough?

How I laughed as they were lifting trophies under him while we won the 'pretty football' cup.

Special... special times.
Bet your laughing now then aren't ya m8. Out of all the cups, playing shit and our club divided. Brilliant.

This is what I've been saying. Basically we've no idea what his contract says but if news starts to leak out that there is a break clause this summer then I suspect it is true and we may well exercise it if we feel we can get someone like Nagelsmann in. (just using him as an example, I don't mean him necessarily).

I don't know if Levy really has a clue any more.

I mean, I've been impressed with how Norwich have played under Daniel Farke this season, doesn't mean I think he'd be a good fit here. It's like those who think highly of Nagelsmann (he does seem to really be invested with great eye to detail/tactics for his teams) I'd ask the question why he'd venture to become Spurs manager when he has the pick of any top job should one come available (Bayern?)

Eddie Howe has had some success, he has also struggled this particular season at Bournemouth, funnily enough, a few key injuries, few players getting older/looking off the pace and a few poor decisions in the transfer market ... It happens to all the great ones.

I have no idea what constitutes what a 'Spurs' manager looks like. Maybe we can tempt Ossie for one last go?

IMO, I think Levy's failure to recruit players to give us a sufficiently squad with sufficient quality, depth and balance is the the largest single reason why we are where we are today, much more so than anything that Mourinho has/hasn't done. If you want to get mad, start with Levy.

haha this is still going strong.

What a thing to argue about.

For me it doesn't really matter who is the manager if they are constantly hamstrung from above.

We aren't going to appoint anyone who's going to magically transform this team, we aren't going to get anyone who us fans will be patient with, there can be no project because we won't show the patience for that either. This needs more money throwing at it than our dear leader is ever likely to chuck at it unless we sell Kane. Simplistic I know and I don't mean outrageous amounts before anyone has a hissy about doing a Leeds, but that's the truth of it and right now we aren't the club for that.

So Mourinho is manager? meh. Eddie Howe? meh.......Nagelsmann? haha and meh. On the football side, this club has gone fucking stale in almost every respect but no, lets not point the finger at the architect of it all, lets all bicker about Jose fucking Mourinho as if getting rid will go any way at all to solving our problems in the long run.

I said it a few weeks ago, this club needs a re-set at the top. The 'philosophy' ain't working and isn't ever likely to. We're a massive club and its time we started to fucking act like one.

All my onions of course :D

Agree. Personally I think we'll see JM gone by Xmas but its not gonna be all his fault. This squad needs an overhaul and that isnt going to happen. I can see next season starting the same as this one is finishing. We need a change at the top or change in philosophy if we want to be succesful. Failing that we need a coach who can get the best from what he has at his disposal and JM cannot do that imo.
Shit roll or shit sandwich scenario.
Or I'm completely wrong and we spend wisely in the summer (already been told by the man himself we've a budget of £15.23 and a bag of salted peanuts) and JM turns this ship around. I'd settle for plugging the leak at the minute.
