Do we really want another Janssen though?
If the powers that be weren't sure enough on him to commit, then what's the point of just wasting money.
I don't want any old player unless they are going to improve us and even then, it's got to be value for money.
Should we just go out and spend 50m on Andy Carroll? How much shit did Liverpool get for that move?

It's all very well say "just go and spend 23m on Piantek" but who gets the blame if he flops? I would rather save the money and put it towards someone that the manager is convinced will improve the squad.

can you ever be 100% sure unless you are buying the best strikers around? Which clearly we are not going to do

Of course not but there's a difference when you're taking a risk that the manager is prepared to make.
In this case, it would appear thar Jose didn't think it was worth it. I can't say I blame him as none of the currently available strikers are particularly appealing.

I’m starting to think I don’t care about this season now, with no striker incoming. I’m more excited about how we can set ourselves up for next season. We’ve got two new young additions in Gedson and Bergwijn, Lo Celso done permanently and him plus Ndombele having a full preseason under Mourinho. Gotten rid of Eriksen too who was a bit of a bad egg, just due to him not wanting any future with us. Hopefully Rose will go to Newcastle permanently and maybe KWP too depending on his performances.

If we can get those and Wanyama out the door it clears up room and really a DM and a RB on top of that would have us looking pretty strong.

Just a big shame as a striker would have had us potentially kick on quite well from here to really try for CL.

Didn’t Hercules say earlier today that it was JM’s idea to go for Jose??

Yes I think he did. Maybe once it was obligation or nothing, although offered the funds, Mourinho thought that in the long term that we could secure better quality further down the line. ??

He did kind of say as much in his presser. Something about a striker not just for the here and now, but also for the future. (y)

Just s thought.

Well listen we can’t say Mou hasn’t been backed with the signings he has got, yes he would have liked a striker but as Herc said it’s difficult as we need someone who is willing to play second fiddle to Kane yet doesn’t stifle Parrots chances!

First team in the history of the Premier League to buy NO ONE two transfer windows in a row and now, first team in the history of the Premier to go into the business end of the season without any Striker at all on the team. (Parrott doesn't count since he likely will not be used this season and certainly won't start Prem games- i.e., the ones we need a Striker for in order to try and get top 4)

I mean seriously ask yourself: has this EVER happened before? No, right? No team has ZERO Strikers-- no one. Ever. Hell Most teams have 3 and even 4-- we have NONE.

When you step back and think about it, we really are a strange club.

Gets a free pass for me this season, regardless of results he doesn’t have the tools required to achieve our objects.

Us as fans should take this into consideration when results don’t go our away because he can only work with what he has for the remainder of the season.

---------------------- Lloris -----------------------
Aurier ---- Toby ------------ Tanganga --- Davies
----- Lo Celso ------ Winks ---- Ndombele -----
-- Bergwijn --------- Dele --------------- Son ---

That's the way forward for me, given the players available.

Mourinho on Spurs transfers: "I'm not expecting any players. The market is open though. I'm happy [with my squad[ but I have to answer yes it would be better with a striker. Yes we would need a striker to have a better squad to face the challenges ahead."

"I cannot hide. If I say it's an easy situation to play three competitions without a striker, I'm going to lie and I cannot lie. It's important for us but if it's not possible for us, it's not possible.

"It's important that we are all together on this. We don't want just a striker to be helpful now, we want a striker who would be good for us and good for our future."

He adds in that he’s happy the club were trying to sign one. Think this ties in with the itk that he is happy. Although I doubt he’s happy he doesn’t have a new one, but I think it goes back to his time at Man U. I think the promises that were broken to him there he still carries with him. I know we don’t entirely know what goes on behind the scenes but he feels like he has the support of the chairman at spurs, which is obviously important to him. Let’s see how that is at the end of the summer but for now I believe he’s content.

His pre match conference is worth a watch if you ask me. The media will focus on the transfer bit but for me there is so much more in there.

Bergwijn will need time. Cant expect him to be a starter.

I do find it funny that people complain about the style of long ball football but then also complain about not signing a target man. It makes no sense.

I wanted a striker but not some big lump.
