So it seems we cannot judge Jose as he's been here two minutes, we are playing so many games that there is little to no training going on - more fitness and basic stuff so and the entire squad is Sunday League at best so . . .

When do you think it's reasonable to expect to see improvements?
- Couple of signings in January of top notch players who are Prem proven?
- Say March after getting his message across?
- Start of next season after a full pre season and some early signings?
- Total rebuild - probably 2 years?
I actually think that’s a great question.

The answer though will lie with the individual
We have the I told you so fans who are literally waiting for a feck up - they are already out so times up now
Then you get the want to give time but not confident enough in conviction - therefore will go with the flow and will turn when the majority turn - probably end of Jan if nothing improves
Next is the optimistics - these fans will give until the end of the season and then that’s that, unless of course he’s doing well and then they become the new I told you so’s but in a ‘good’ way
Finally - the realists, probably give him... ready for it.... at least 18months and 2/3 transfer windows.

and here is the kicker - if everyone can see a rebuild is needed then it will need the 2/3 windows which means everyone must be a realist.... oh wait, maybe not!!!

Currently some of my concerns about his appointment are coming to pass but it is still relatively early.

My concern remains that he doesn't have a great record of improving players through coaching and he's not going to be given money to spend.

Thing is, I feel like we could be in a state where it doesn't matter what manager we have, we've hit a brick wall. Whether this is something that is acknowledged by Levy is another question but even if he got rid of Mourinho and got someone else in (hypothetically speaking) I'm convinced very little would change.

I think it has to be realised that most of these players have already been pushed to beyond what anyone thought they would, from when Pochettino was here. It's not like he's working with players who haven't already massively peaked. They've all somewhat overachieved already, hence why so many are calling for additions to the team because they need help along the way and quite frankly the club haven't given them that, almost let them down in a sense. We've been fortunate that they've given us the level at which they had for as long as they did because it's been the same core group for years.

I'm not happy with whatever we're trying to do on the pitch at all but that's two quality managers who have now churned out some of the worst football I've seen us play for years and years with this current group. I just pray that there's not an element of calmness about this and that alarm bells are ringing behind the scenes, because they should be.

There is no Mourinho 2.0, they'll be no change of style etc. He is what he is and will stick to what he knows. Now a case of seeing what we can achieve while he is here. Don't make top 4 this season followed by a summer where we struggle to bring in the players he wants and I can see it all kicking off resulting in him out the door not too long after.
All I want is that if Mourinho is staying for him is for him to be backed. If it is looking crappy April time, shake hands at end of season and back a young manager for the long term.

Also I genuinely think people are passing over the “didn’t sign anyone for two years” too easily. Our whole squad is littered with extremely average footballers. Today the only three players who I could currently see getting into any other top side were Kane, Eriksen and Ndombele. Every single other player is either young (Sess), past it (Verts and Toby) or simply not good enough (Gazza, Aurier, Sissoko, Lucas, Alli).

We are bloated with too many players who simply don’t have a football brain, and then the rest of the squad filled with young kids or players simply not good enough for top 10 football (KWP, Winks, Wanyama, Dier).

Our injury record has been atrocious so something isn’t quite right there, did Poch run them into the ground?

Unless the right investment of time and money is given to this squad, then we all have to accept that we will be a mid table side for the foreseeable future.

Well at least he'll be able to work with the players during the week as we play weekend to weekend for a bit. It obviously did It go right before the Chelsea game but let's hope he can form some defensive structure and get some responding.

Confidence is key. We currently don’t have it
There's no game plan though. Unless the game plan is hoof the ball up top, which will not work with us. We don't have the players for that, which only frustrates the players more and more, and destroys their confidence.

he inherited some issues with the squad and while everything isn't his fault the decisions he has made in regards to his formation etc has been woeful so far with little change

I hope Mourinho gets to understand soon enough that he can't keep showing loyalty to any players in this team, as non of them is likely to give him that same treatment in return (well, except maybe for Lamela, but his fitness issues means that we probably shouldn't be making any plans around him anyway). Remember guys, this is the same group of players who couldn't fight for Pochetino (or perhaps were even trying to get him out), chances of them fighting for Mourinho are slim at best.

  • Eriksen shouldn't even be training with the first team anymore, let alone starting any league games.
  • Moura just isn't consistent enough to be a regular starter.
  • Dele is regressing yet again.
  • Son is just making it a habit now of flirting with red cards. He is ready to become the best player in this team, but it seems like he's afraid or something to really go for it.
  • Kane is quickly becoming one of our slowest players on the field.
  • Lamela's fitness keeps letting him and us down.
  • Lo Celso still doesn't seem to have developed any chemistry with any of his team mates
  • Sessegnon just seems better suited to play as a left back than as a winger.
My reason for making that list is to show that not one of our creative/offensive players is really deserving to have a fixed position as a regular starter, and yet they are all we've got, so I really think Mourinho will need more time than what we were hoping to work with these players and to find his best 11. But I hope that after today he sees the mistakes he has been making by wanting to be a nice guy to some of these players (like with Eriksen or Lucas).

It starts with defence. All of those players would play better with a functioning defence behind them and a strategy that they could trust.
