Liking or disliking Mourinho is irrelevant. He's paid 12m a year to deliver something the fans want to watch. At the moment we've had some quite fortunate results from pretty dreadful football. I'm sure he can do better.

He's explained that he just doesn't have time to change from what the players know yet.

What we're seeing right now is Pochettino's greatest tactical hits from 2019, slightly reworked into something that will win us a game here and there. When he has more time, I'm sure the tactics will change.

We've scored a lot of goals regardless, since he's been here, despite the 'pretty dreadful football' mind...

I agree Sausage and I think once we get ND in the lineup from the off and we settle on the DM whether Dier is indeed the man then I think Mourinho we see it clearer. It was vert difficult for him to change based on the team he saw Lampard put out just before the kick off as he probably wasnt sure about NDs fitness and that gave him less choices. Now he knows more,so even now can make better choices

We were one more defeat from being right in the relegation mix. Now 12 points from 6 games. First job done.
Second job is try to remain in contention for 4th place OR start a major rebuild. He has to try for the former before the latter and therefore can't try all the various ideas we have. As soon as we can't get fourth the experiments will begin. He really does know what he's doing and will take all the flack whilst trying to decide who's onboard for the longer term.

Although not impossible I still think fourth spot will be unabtainable this year due to various factors including a midfield of poor quality compared with others.
If Jose is allowed to bring in player's of his choosing then next year we might get amongst it again this year we are not good enough.

he is paid to win - not deliver a particular style

This Brighton game we must learn something.
Will Mourinho continue this style
Or play more creative players?
Lers reconvene after that because making any statements of our future based on the last one is futile.
We need to see Mourinho adapt. We need to see the quality we have (or not) in midfield.
We need to tighten up the defence.
Up to you Jose.

I think Jose is a pragmatist at heart. I think its points first and style later. The path to least resistance style will be it for now. Lets face it, this team was broken under Poch. The results clearly pointed to a very poor finish this year on the back of a long period of deterioration in form and style of play.

Jose has the unenviable task of bringing back consistency in results and form along with keeping up with the top 4. Not an easy task. People moaning about winning in style will have to wait. There are too many structural issues with the squad to sort out for a start. Slow and easy does it. I think Top 4 will be a big ask.

Yes , a pragmatist . Its where he particularly contrasts with Poch imo . Ali Gold reckons we make top 4 btw..

I'm all for Christmas Spirit and giving but the moment the team sheet goes out this place melts quicker than Ramon Briggs' Snowman.

Not long to go now! ?

It always reminds me of the below Community scene when ive been watching the game and think "Well we're not doing too bad, ball hasnt quite run for us but if we keep this going we'll get a decent chance and can step it up, i wonder how the guys on SC are seeing it in the match thread...."

The current brand of football that is being served up by Mourinho at the moment is a disgrace and unless he changes course in the near future he will be out of a job.

Even when we were shit we always tried to play football the right way.

Seriously???!!

we were utter shite for the best part of a year. No good football, no goals scored, not showing up for champions league finals - that’s a disgrace

this constant attack and waiting for failure from a world class winner is pathetic and sums up the generation we now live in.

He will not be out of a job for at least 2 years so you may as well forget this out of a job quickly lark - levy has employed one of the best proven managers, who, even when he was at his lowest, won trophies with a shit show at Utd

Time to get over yourself and support our club

Interesting to hear Jose say he can fix the defence easily but that requires sacrifice of the offensive qualities

Maybe he is trying to change from his past his park the bus tactics

"I know how to do it, but to do it 100 per cent I am going to take away from the team some qualities that we want to keep. And then it is more difficult to do it because to play for a clean sheet and to put all the focus on the clean sheet, on the improvement of the defensive organisation and try to kill the mistakes that we make, that is not difficult to do"

"The difficulty is to do it with players that are the players they are, with the habits they have; the difficult thing is to put it right defensively without losing the qualities we can have offensively,” he said.
