He’ll either be gone by the end of next season with the squad gone all Lord of the Flies on us or we’ll win the treble and we’ll build a statue of him outside the new stadium in the Ancient Greek style, cock out.
On the other hand, I see that Chelsea and Manchester United have been vying with each other to get the sculptor Antony Gormley to memorialise Mourinho's respective cock-ups:

Before his hiring I had put him forward as my preferred choice. But when it comes to picking managers I am not particularly confident.

I believe he is a good fit for our squad. We have experienced players now who I believe will respect Jose. I also believe he could get the best out of Dier and Alli.

There are certainly questions over his attitude to the media and if in time he will bring the mood of the club down.

Many thought Levy would go for a cheaper option like Howe. Hiring Jose is an ambitius move and show of intent to compete.

I'm excited to be honest. I can't wait to see what an experienced, elite coach can do with this group.

What happened was a shame and I don't think it's what anyone truly wanted, but even those that were 100% Poch in, know it was required.

I think that we wouldn't have been able to turn things around under Poch, and that parting ways was the right thing to do.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Mourinho. He seems a better fit for the somewhat older and experienced squad that we have now, and just getting a somewhat competent defensive framework around the likes of Kane, Son, Lo Celso, Ndombele and Alli should catapult us up the table.

My concerns are his ability to coach a coherent attacking game competent at breaking down deep blocks. That was nonexistent in his Man United team.

I've said it on here in other threads but I don't like the character of the man. I don't like that he publically abused a female doctor for simply doing her job. i don't like that he felt the need to poke a Barcelona coach in the eye because he lost a match. I don't like his sterile, defensive, one-paced style of football. I don't like his misuse of young players or how he publically bullied Luke Shaw.

My only solace is that during his time out of the game he has reflected on his ways and we see a new improved version of the man. And hopefully a change in his dour philosophy on football. I cannot argue against the fact he is a serial winner and that gives me some cause for optimism but i'm unlike others who seem to abandon any morals they have to support the manager. If he is chatting shit or doing something wrong I will call it out. And if his past actions are anything to go by then this is very likely to happen.

Ultimately I want Tottenham Hotspur to do well so I will support the club/team but for now I cannot get behind Mourinho the character or his football philosophy. If his future actions show that he has changed his ways then my opinion may change but currently I remain skeptical.
yep similar view here, especially about Eva Carneiro and the public bullying of players. I’ve always thought, regardless of his success, thank god he’s not at Spurs. And now he is... I feel very sad tbh. And more than a bit sick. I can’t believe this has happened.

I’m an ST holder and I support Spurs through thick and thin and always will - but I can’t stand mourinho and don’t think a poisonous character like that should ever have set foot in our club.

So I will cheer the team on as always but I won’t suddenly start liking him and I’ll be happier when he’s gone. Then maybe we can get someone who is both a talented manager and a decent human being again.

It's more like 'the cold water of reality'. Others might have called it 'lighting the blue touch paper'. Whatever, as it's the 'fun' and attention-seeking element of appointing Mourinho that has excited comment and thrilled the desperate, get used to the fact that much laughter at celebrity is going to be coming our way in the weeks and months ahead. I admit that when I saw the headline, I chuckled at the thought of what lies ahead.

So much has been written and said about Mourinho. One thing is as clear as day, and excuse the pun, but in the end all Spurs fans should be united on this.

If it all goes terribly wrong, and to make matters worse, we end up being the only side he's ever managed that doesn't win silverware and it all ends in the same acrimonious way it does with all the other clubs he has left there can and should be no doubt whatsoever that this should all be on Levy's shoulders !

There can and should be no excuses this time for Levy, no one at this club should be trying to even defend Levy for this, if it all goes pear shaped and we don't even see any of the silver lined good bits.

I hope it doesn't happen pan out this way, and I'm not even saying it will, I'm simply saying that there is a risk that it could. It's not as if Levy can say he didn't go into this with his eyes shut, or he can say that he was either completely or even mildly unaware of what could possibly go wrong, the entire bloody world in this case knows only too well what could go wrong.

I think this is as bold as Levy has gone in any gamble, and there can and should be no hiding place if the Mourinho gamble fails so badly here and Poch succeeds so well elsewhere. If that happens we will quite rightly face the full force and ridicule and eternal told you so's that any football club has ever faced.

Only time will tell what will happen.....let's all hope, me included that it doesn't begin, happen and end in the way many know it could.
It seems like Levy is pretty much damned by whatever he did/does.
I honestly don't think Levy could have shown more ambition than he has by hiring Mourinho.
To be preparing to jump on his back should it go wrong already, is a bit harsh.

If this appointment is backed up by the financing that Jose has pretty much proved he needs to succeed then it could, and perhaps should, be a massive step forward.
This again...
I think the analogy someone used earlier was good, if you win the lottery your spending will increase...you're not going to go down the bins at the back of Asda to find some dinner.
Because of what he achieved at Porto (WITHOUT SPENDING), he was in the fortunate position to be employed by clubs with shitloads of money.
Winning the lottery doesn't mean that you cant whack together a tasty spag-bog for a few quid if the need ever arises.

I just think many people will wait and see if Levy shows the level of ambition we need and allows Jose to spend some money. No point hiring a manager of his ilk and not backing him - especially if there is a short term view.

It will be interesting to see if this particular leopard can really change his spots. I remain cautiously optimistic though.

This could all go horribly wrong, but it’s one hell of a statement of intent, and I think Levy and the board should be applauded for putting their balls on the line like this.

I was very encouraged to read about training at Spurs this morning that Mourinho had them doing balls up in the air.

Yep, and I think he will.
All that Levy has built, is towards making Spurs a big club, both at home and worldwide.
I find it hard to believe he hasn't noticed that other big clubs spend big, so he will be prepared to do the same, especially now that all the groundwork has been completed.

This club needed a smug, arrogant, win it all costs utter bastard. It needs to be taught how to win. No more folding in finals. Mourinho certainly fits that bill. Im excited for the entertainment the pressers will give.

Excited for whatever the hell is about to happen. Still upset that Frank de Boer wasn't available but this is the best we could do in the circumstances.

Yesterday I was really excited, over the moon. I’m a bit more level headed now about it and I think he’s got a great job in front of him but we need to win Saturday and start winning games. He needs to win the naysayers over.

I think any new manager would have helped as I’ve been saying for a year the players need a new voice. We’ve appointed one, but we’ve blown just appointing any old manager out of the park, we’ve appointed one of the best managers in recent footballing history who is known to have good relationships with the majority of his players and is one of the best tactically.

I’m just looking forward to going to go to games again, I must say it was starting to feel a bit of a chore this season despite the wonderful stadium (and lager).
