Bringing someone in of Jose's calibre, experience and success is a great great start BUT with Levy he will be judged on how he backs the manager... He brings in Jose but doesnt back him? then we may as well have not got him in.

I dont expect much in January - maybe a right back but i dont know. I do certainly expect some ins and outs in the summer but that would depend on whether we finish with CL for next season

One thing is for sure - eyes will be on us globally for the rest of this season...

I don't think this was a snap decision so I would have thought there had been a fair bit of dialogue between Levy and Jose in terms of how he rated the squad, what he felt needed adding, and the budget to do so.
We know from our profits and summer spending around £100 millon is available per season so Jose would be aware of what he has to work with.
It's certainly enough to get us top four again which will be Levy's short term objective but whether it's enough for Jose to genuinely challenge for a title/CL remains to be seen.

But three seasons should be ideal to see if we're on a trajectory to meet that and give Mourinho a longer contract.

Mourinho's first training-session. I can already see that we have improved. Excellent one touch-play in square and many good goals. Also interesting to see that he puts his arm on the players, a kind of clergy-fatherly leadership style. Poch had a more friendly arm, while Alex Ferguson I suspect was more physically distant. Will be exciting to see how this use of the arm materializes in how we play in matches.

Tell you what I will give him a bit of credit for, I'm fairly sure more than a few managers might have looked at the first fixture being a tricky prospect, away to West Ham in their cup final, and strung out the formalities another 24 hours or so, been announced on a Thursday, not met the players till Friday, and decided to sit out this match and watch it from the stands and avoid the potentially embarrassing start. Fair play to him getting straight in, on the training pitch, and ready to front up and get to work.

I feel like there will of been some pretty similar statements made by man united fans when he joined.... Ask them now whether they'd prefer the sentimental choice, Ole. Or the "serial winner", Jose now.

I'm not saying there's some potential truth in the sentiment of these kind of statements. But we, as football fans, like to believe there's magic people out there who can do magic things. People that just have "it". And that nice people don't win things and nasty people do.

All seems a bit naive and simplistic to me at least.

Many of them would still prefer Jose over Ole according to Redcafe

He was never going to bottle this game. It’s clear to me (so I’m probably wrong) that the decision was made after the Sheffield Utd game and it wouldn’t surprise me if most of the ground work/sounding out was done before then.

With the international break after the Sheffield Utd game and, most importantly, Mourinho being Mourinho, he wouldn’t drag anything out to avoid this game. I’d wager quite the opposite, with our away form being so terrible (what is it something stupid like Fulham away in February or something being our last away win in the league?) he’ll think this is the perfect game to get some confidence into the team and win some of the more sceptical fans over as well. He also knows this league inside out so there shouldn’t be any apprehension in that regard either.

The managers can’t complain about going into big games unprepared now. If he’s still like this

Its this type of experience, that will be so invaluable, in essence what we have be just lacking in the last few years to take us to that next level. One thing JM has over Poch, dont get me wrong I still love Poch im mourning his departure (i didnt want him to go, i though hed be with 10+ yrs).if JM can curb an element of his ego use this type of experience and his tactical edge is what could make him a real success in terms of silverware, im just praying for this , although again much prefer to still Poch and done it with him. All we can do is pray and hope to see this type of knowledge, tactical play and belif that JM can help develop and instil in our players

Watch this guys, fascinating. Basically Mourinho describing his tactics in detail on how he beat that fantastic Barcelona team when Inter eventually reached the final of the CL. He is a tactical magician and it’s no wonder why this guy is so successful everywhere he goes. I am so excited at this new era at Spurs under Jose.

One reassuring thing about the (speedy) Mourinho appointment is that it tells the players that Spurs aren't fucking about. Mourinho is still a big, big beast of the world game, even if his luster is somewhat tarnished. I think he's still the most famous football coach in the world, right?

It's good that the players, especially the new ones, immediately have a high-profile, charismatic coach in their faces, rather than enduring a long delay for a new appointment, and/or finding out the new coach is some promising 39 year old plucked from the lower reaches of the Bundesliga. It's Jose Mourinho for chrissakes. No way you show up and don't try and impress him, and want to impress him.

When he’s had a world class striker Drogba Costa he’s absolutely bossed this league. Never had that at United.

Interesting in that 7 minute training clip on the spurs app. He definitely spoke and hugged Dele. If he can just get him back to what he was...

If his hugs can deter hamstring injuries perhaps...

dele’s form wasn’t ever an issue of Poch s coaching unless it was a fitness coaching issue ffs

Unavoidable, really. There's always a good deal of rubber-necking as people slow down and pass a car-crash.

He's probably feeling a little sheepish, if the rumours about him wanting Poch out are true.
Key words here being 'probably' and 'if', and all it refers to are 'rumours'. If I could be bothered I could dream up 250 rumours for you in, 10 minutes, say. You could knock up a hundred more yourself, as could anybody, in mere minutes. Rumours are like leaves in a London park in autumn — thick on the ground or just blowing by.

Yep but the rumours that some of the senior players were unhappy with Poch have come from some pretty reliable sources.
I also think it's quite obvious that the players have assisted in his removal.

That aside, it was just an off the cuff remark in reply to questions about Harry's attitude/body language.
