H and Son had a love in. H said Son was MOM, Son said H was. (Son was awarded it by Jenas in commentary).

Mourinho made a big point of saying H should get it as he sacrificed for the team (by dropping deeper to let Son run in behind). I think Jose was making a point as against Everton Kane did naff all and he needs to play like this for us to be successful.

Not sure it was the best idea for Jose to interrupt Son interview like that to say Kane man of the match, you gotta these egos and I would otherwise have said they were both man of the match as they’re both world class and need to be appreciated.

The SC special

Not at all, people are just of the opinion it seems odd to interrupt a player who has been given man of the match so day someone else should have been given it.

Seems odd to me for any team.

Of course the forum police is on it in this thread having his snide little digs as per usual (not you karibyid), but peeps are entitled to express if they think someone is a bit odd.

I just hope in private Jose has shown Son his appreciation, as Jose can fall out with players. Although Son is probably one of the happiest players around lol.

Yeah. I think he's probably grooming Kane for a role that will possibly see him not get quite as big of a share of our goals as Harry would hope for, but might make the team ultimately more successful. You could see him kinda working like Firminho at Liverpool, hanging a bit deeper with Son and Bale pushing on, only he's actually a better passer than Firminho. So a bit of positive reinforcement going on. Tad harsh/rude on Son though, hopefully he smooths it over behind closed doors.

Shame Jose isn’t on Twitter as I’m sure he’d appreciate your management gems ;)

Kane has also shown for England how well he is dropping deeper in a 4-3-3 allowing wider players such as Sterling to be more the primary goal scorer.

So with Son and Bale either side of him (or Bergwijn) he should hopefully have a field day!

i don’t think it should be either or though. if they both play maybe we can look to dominate the ball and take pressure of the defensive side of the game but also have that ability to counter at pace with passes through the lines. Stick them two with a very good athletic defensive midfielder it would be a very good midfield. Honestly it might sound harsh but the other two that started today don’t really offer much either side of the ball.

Yes but we don’t have that. So it’s not going to happen unless we are chasing the game.

It's not really odd at all, I doubt that Son gives a shit who the MOTM is and it should be left at that, it's just a bloody MOTM nomination it's really not that deep.

The problem I have is that people look into things too much, it was bad enough before the doc came out but now everyone wants to be a amatuer phycologist based on 5 seconds of footage and they are doing it purely to fuel their confirmation bias about our players and manager.

I'm not saying you are doing that but that's a constant theme on here, it's boring.

I could lip-read Jose saying "man of the match, man of the match" as he patted Kane on the back after subbing him off.

I didn't see Jose interrupt the interview, but I did see Son accept praise from the interviewer for his "man of the match performance" without turning to Harry to praise him for his assists (that's fairly common practice during public interviews, even if not off-camera), and immediately thought to myself "that's extremely dissmissive of the guy standing next to you". Perhaps Jose was trying to make a point of this to Son.

It's also possible that Jose felt Kane needed a morale boost or that the way he played needed positive reinforcement. We don't know what's being going on behind the scenes or what instructions Mourinho has given him.
On pitch and on camera Son kept vigorously pointing indicating to Kane as MoM.

son himself even said harry was man of the match, no?
Not in the first post-match interview that I saw. In the BBC Sport interview, he says Harry was man of the match AFTER the Mourinho interrupts the interview and punches him in the arm (could be interpreted as "you better agree with me").

Don't forget the players give separate interviews to different channels / broadcasters.

Spot on, their partnership was brilliant, world class. Some poster recently said that they are selfish with one another all,too often.Well not today. In drooling at the thought of Bale and fully fit Lo Celso and Ndombele

Yeah on BT after the game he did, problem is a lot of people didn't watch that.
I don't even know who's interview I watched, but it wasn't necessarily BT Sport and it cut out midway through, with Son having accepted praise for being MOTM and the interviewer having moved on to another discussion point.

Such a shame our most creative midfielder is our goal scorer.
Its why Southgate has Kane feeding that useless fk Sterling instead of the pther way around.

I don’t think Winks, Hojbjerg with Lo Celso/Ndombele gives us more defensively anyway. at least with Ndombele and Lo Celso we have more ability to dominate possession for periods of the game and take of pressure of the defence that way.
