When you look at his record, it's ridiculous he's here and not higher up the chain. His achievements may only be appreciated once he retires and people look back.
We need to stop thinking small like this. We are big up the foodchain now. Only a small number of elite clubs are above us (barca, real madrid) we were CL finalists and PL contenders in the last few seasons. There arnt many other clubs he could realistically go for.

He was a remarkably intelligent and articulate kid for his age and circumstances.

I would also point out the "tweet" is from 2012 and he signed for us in 2015, yet it's a picture of Dele in a Spurs shirt from this season

Winks : Jose doesnt play ball playing CMs most often.
Don't think this is true actually, he regularly played Cesc in a CM 2 in his last stint at Chelsea, Alonso was his main CM at Real, Stankovic played the 2nd most games in CM for him at Inter and Carrick (who was 35 at the time) started 50% of matches in Jose first season.

I agree, there was a lot of stick about Levy not being ambitious enough, so he employs probably the most successful manager of the last decade or so, and then gets another load of abuse for the appointment.

Not sure just how much more ambitious he could have been!

There are no guarantees that Mourinho will be a success but the odds are much more in his favour than against so I really don't understand the mass negativity.

Bringing someone in of Jose's calibre, experience and success is a great great start BUT with Levy he will be judged on how he backs the manager... He brings in Jose but doesnt back him? then we may as well have not got him in.

I dont expect much in January - maybe a right back but i dont know. I do certainly expect some ins and outs in the summer but that would depend on whether we finish with CL for next season

One thing is for sure - eyes will be on us globally for the rest of this season...

Seems to be fake but if it was real the profile picture would be as he’s got it today anyway

I liked that he seemed friendly with the players. Patting their backs and heads. Little hugs, etc. Tells me that he has enough empathy in him to understand that the players must be feelings weird with how quickly things changed, and that they all must feel a little off kilter. By acknowledging that, tells me a lot about him as a manager.

Harry's body language was interesting. He looked knackered, as usual! But he wasn't all smiley-smiley with Jose. I know, I know, it's just a video and not to read anything into it. But I'm sure Harry had a lot of loyalty to Poch. And he also is at a point in his career, and with his reputation, that it's not just about him respecting Jose... it needs to work both ways.

Nothing in that mate. Look at the end and he was chatting to Jose. Our whole squad will no doubt respect a guy that has won untold honours is one of the best coaches in world football.

Well exactly. He’s one of the most successful managers in the world. Players surely must be semi excited about that.

Yeah he’s a ****. But now he’s our ****.

Regards the compensation package we’ve agreed with Poch, I do hope it has some sort of clause not to be able to work at another PL club for a certain period. In amongst all this excitement and craziness there is still a little piece of my brain dreading Poch rocking up at Utd or someone else before the season is out or in the summer.
I don’t think the club is in a position to impose such a condition when terminating a contract without notice.

If - and I accept it is a big if - you are going to back a manager with your money, would you back a serial winner or a nice guy who's won nothing? Jose didn't have loads of money to spend at Porto, but he won stuff anyway, proving he has what it takes as a coach. Poch has been a manager / coach for 10 years and won nothing, in a results based business, there's no room for sentiment and that's the harsh reality of why we now have Jose Mourinho in charge of our great club.
I feel like there will of been some pretty similar statements made by man united fans when he joined.... Ask them now whether they'd prefer the sentimental choice, Ole. Or the "serial winner", Jose now.

I'm not saying there's some potential truth in the sentiment of these kind of statements. But we, as football fans, like to believe there's magic people out there who can do magic things. People that just have "it". And that nice people don't win things and nasty people do.

All seems a bit naive and simplistic to me at least.

No, I expect you’re correct, although I’m sure I read that Chelsea imposed something similar on Mourinho when he left ( not sure if it was the first or second time).

He's probably feeling a little sheepish, if the rumours about him wanting Poch out are true.

So far as money goes: Poch and his team are getting paid by the month atm and will get a proper severance payout once they start a new job. All this is according to Duncan Castles who seems to have had his finger in every Spurs pie these past 24 hours.

The managers can’t complain about going into big games unprepared now. If he’s still like this

Well. You see... The first thing that helped me beat Barcelona. And it was a true test of my skill as a football manager. Was that Id picked this team to manage. Called Real Madrid. And it turns out they had some pretty good players as well... And boat loads of cash... But yeah, pretty impressive for me that. I'm a dead good manager for picking Real Madrid. Toughest of challenges.
