Wow. Only the 8 dohs and 2 wtfs for posting two criticisms of the dear leader. This place is going to the dogs.
I'd imagine the dohs are at the fact the poster believes Daniel levy fitted the wrong smoke alarms and is stupid enough to sack a manager without anyone lined up

Toby and Jan haven’t become a bad CB pairing overnight. They are just out of form (and maybe fitness). Unmotivated, maybe too.
Dier is ideal for the role Mourninho will require of him.

They haven't gone bad, just aged and lost the ability to handle covering space and being exposed in the system that Poch played. If they had been at Juventus they'd still would look golden, and hopefully they can continue with us. Thoughts go back to John Terry at Chelsea under AVB, high line pressure and a lot of space behind him - he looked like a clown, afterwards he was perhaps the best in the league again for a while.
I'd say our squad in 2019 is far more suitable for Mourinho to manage than Pochettino. Poch need young energetic players.

One thing we can look forward to is the NLD's, he absolutely hates Arsenal and always has their number when his teams play against them.

Although I do wonder who will be at the helm for them come April, because it definitely won't be Emery.

He was a remarkably intelligent and articulate kid for his age and circumstances.

Edit: the tweet is fake but I meant if it was real.

I could be wrong but I think it’s the case that when managers take new jobs whatever wages are still owed to them under their previous contracts are extinguished. Suppose it would depend on the wording of the specific contract in question but I’m sure I’ve seen that be the case in the past.

I think that's only if he takes a job in the Prem, it depends on the clause in his contract, pretty sure Utd wrote that into Jose's contract and were paying him on Gardening leave.

Great observation. It seemed to me that after Walker and to a lesser extent Trips, Toby couldn't anticipate most of our RB's decisionmaking (recovery line, first defender/second defender) as well and was often caught in limboland. Three years ago, he would often arrive to where the ball was going prior to the ball or anyone else. Not sure what was happening on the left side though. Davies is usually good position wise but struggled with quick forwards. It was never clear to me whether Rose's decisionmaking got worse over the last few years so int he case of Jan, i do suspect it is more of him slowing down and Poch's system.

If I was running a half billion pound turnover business, needed a new manager, and someone with Jose's CV turned up for an interview the contract would be out before he got through the door.

Not sure what sort of inexperienced, unsuccessful applicants other people would employ in their businesses but the proven track record at the highest level is the only thing that matters.

I seem to be in a very small minority but I think he'll be the final piece of Levy's jigsaw, World Class facilities, World Class finances, World Class manager, and he will be exactly what we need to step up to the next level.

When you look at his record, it's ridiculous he's here and not higher up the chain. His achievements may only be appreciated once he retires and people look back.

There aren’t very many openings currently and TBH looking at Jose’s musings and comments via punditry since he was sacked at United it very much appears that he has had an eye on us and had been preparing for such. I think he knew how the stars would align.

I feel like a hypocrite and anyone here is well within their right to call me out but I’m coming around to this decision. It just makes so much sense.

I still have my gripes with Levy because I feel he cornered Poch into an untenable position but we must move forward.

I agree, there was a lot of stick about Levy not being ambitious enough, so he employs probably the most successful manager of the last decade or so, and then gets another load of abuse for the appointment.

Not sure just how much more ambitious he could have been!

There are no guarantees that Mourinho will be a success but the odds are much more in his favour than against so I really don't understand the mass negativity.

Cornered him into continually playing a shite diamond formation that our players hated? Or cornered him into a position that his in game management was a bit of a joke?

Watching the SSN special and they are so far up his arse it’s almost nauseating. Hard not to get sucked onto the hype train though.

As with any new manager there’s a sense of excitement and promise, but this does have an even bigger feel to it just because of his profile and history of success.

Can’t lie though and say there isn’t also a little feeling or foreboding about the capacity it does have to go tits up with the way we operate. I guess though that’s what makes it all the more exciting.

Don’t want to forget what Poch has done for us though so quickly ( despite what’s happened this season so far), but football moves on and I’m fully strapped in and ready for the Jose ride.

Training video up on Youtube now

fascinating watching that. I’d imagine that the feeling a lot of those players had was one of ‘I’m being instructed & trained by José, a serial winner who’s coached around the world’. Just having him at the club will raise individual player’s psychological profile; Mourinho has ‘chosen’ to be at Spurs, therefore the players will feel elevated by that act alone; regardless of the ‘new-broom’ affect. A lot of them will be at home now believing they can change the fortune of their own game and that of spurs under Mourinho’s guidance - they’ll start to enjoy playing football again, and the ones who wanted to depart will no doubt be questioning their motives. Levy has pulled a masterstroke - at this stage - and there’ll be a totally different vibe around the club; interesting times ahead
