I dont see the correlation between having some injuries and resorting to parking the bus and aimless long balls.

Pragmatism isn't being being negative, it's doing what you must.. I don't think we need to park the bus every game, I am seeing negativity not pragmatism.

Our squad was refreshed to the tune of 5 new players and tanganga over the course of the last 6 months.

We have enough quality players even with some injuries to try and play football against the likes of Southampton. We are just wallowing in Jose's tales of self pity.

I have pretty good imagination, but just can't imagine working game plan on current crop. You can play without a proper striker If other parts of squad can compensate. However If you try to come up with working game plan on our current available crop, well just can't see the way.

Not being in the CL will be the excuse trotted out this summer, that's for sure. Yes it will have an impact on our finances but other clubs manage to sign decent players outside of CL qualification. We just need to get our scouting right and be decisive in the market. Is that going to happen? I won't hold my breath.
The words decisive and transfer market take on a peculiar and laughable form when it comes to spurs.

You think the best game plan game after game with our squad is to park the bus and launch balls at Lucas.

Right.

Some seriously embarrassing self-pitying is happening. You would think we had a team of farmers the way you lot are whining.

Our problems mostly needs to be fixed on the training ground not endless pining for shiny new players. No squad is ever 'complete', you manage the resources at your disposal.

Possibly as there is no way we can play working posession football attackingwise with that bunch (par maybe introducing Parrott). Just how would you break sitting opposition with our bunch? I'd like to hear a working plan. Some lucky break playing ball behind opposition defence seems to be best thing available.

Not having a complete squad is one thing, having almost unplayable squad (due injuries) is another.

With our 'bunch' of farmers/amateurs? If only we had Sheffield utds or Southamptons squad of creative visionary footballers eh.

But yeah perhaps the genius answer is a youth team player with about 45 minutes and 0 senior flight goals to his name.

Definitely not by trying to play progressive positive football, creating space by movement and passing. Maybe we can swap lo celso or son for Shane long in the summer?

At least they have something resembling actual squad. We have good individuals, doesn't help much if essential pieces are missing. Again I welcome anyone to make actual working strategy with these tools.

Jose needs to be given the summer and next season before he can be judged.

He inherited a mess and has lost our top two players to long-term injuries.

End of May May/June are going to be very interesting months and I think will give clear indication oif Levy is going to back Jose in the summer. As imagine Jose will want to get in atleast 2/3 players (logically RB, DM and maybe back up striker) before pre season starts. If that doesn’t happen or look like happening then personally think it will be very clear indication on Levy’s future intentions for the club, Also imagine we will be having another summer like last one where we had a deeply unhappy manager. If we thought Potch was bad last summer just wait for Jose it DL doesn’t deliver.

Imagine the expansive positive football Jose would play if only we had Shane long. We could be as exciting as Southampton .
I thought that's what we wanted? As long as it's got a pathway we're fine? So you wouldn't want a focal point running the channels, holding the ball up and being available in the middle?

Which point are you trying to argue?

“Two or three players before preseason starts.” Ah, bless, we’ve been here before so many times...

God yeah. Imagine what Jose could have done with the Sheff utd squad yesterday and not the players we had available for selection.

Reckon Sheff utd or Southampton would agree to a straight squad swap in the summer? We need their quality.

If you mean by “not turning up” we were the better of two bad teams that night, who got slapped with the softest of penalties after w minutes, controlled the game, created the better chances, we’re wasteful in the final third, then OK.

And there is the problem. Liverpool were awful in that final. But after the lucky pen they got they were confident that they'd be able to see out the game. And they did - comfortably.

We didn't control that game. We didn't create chance after chance. Reality is Liverpool sat back for 89 minutes and let us have the ball. You can control a game and have less of the ball.

Wether they would take our squad on the summer is million miles off the mark as question should be would they take our current, strikerless bunch just for this spring. No, I don't think they would.

It's amazing cause we played that EXACT style with Poch earlier in the season with Kane and Son yet we were completely toothless! But people seem to be forgetting that.

The squad is very disjointed at the moment, especially more so without Kane and Son.

Now, imagine Klopp coming into Liverpool, his best attacker (Firmino) gets ruled out and then his best striker (Mane) gets ruled out. Do people seriously think Klopp would keep playing high up the pitch?? Would he trust Origi and Shaqiri to be great stand ins? Well he tried that before and Liverpool just leaked goals. He'd play to the teams strengths with VVD and Alisson and their midfield by dropping deeper and try catch teams on the counter - which is kinda what they do now.

The point is without the tools, Klopp struggled. Until he'd really worked on the balance Liverpool were a bit of a ying-yang team. It took him 3 YEARS!! Opposition fans were still laughing at him and Liverpool until last season.

We have similar issues and until Jose can work with them all, they will exist.
