Everybody is pointing to Kane/Son being out but the bigger concern is behind these two. We don’t hold onto the ball or knock it around anymore.

Feels like Jose has seen a ted talk about there being on average less than 5 passes before a goal is scored so he wants to get it forward before we’ve hit 5 passes

Maybe he’s seen the attempts of our players to make more than five passes and thought fuck that!

Seriously though, some of the passing and brain dead decisions from our lot today was beyond laughable

Opinions is one thing, but irrationality is another. Lamela not fit, as JM said in his presser, TN still struggling with injury that he has had all season. Our now 2 main strikers out, Moussa out. I just cannot understand what people expect with the football we have to watch. We have pundits chipping in now. Let’s just sack JM now then. Why the f can we not just be grateful we are not in a relegation scrap. That is how it was when he come in. We were extremely offensive early doors, until injuries crept in.

This season I take what we get, and hope for changes in the summer. Only then can you judge him.

This is such crap, we were 3 points off of 5th when he came in and 2 games later he had us in 5th. grateful that we aren't in a relegation scrap? that's just not good enough for a club off our stature and a failure of those in charge and I don't include Jose in that but this attitude of just roll over and accept things are shit is bullshit. We're up against it but we are still a good enough football club to offer some fight.

"Anyone saying "it's not a bad window" can come up with it throughout spring after every tripe performance, when we've crushed out of CL/FA and lost out on 4th. Make no mistake about it, this is worst performance on transfer window since Berba/Frazier. Could turn out to be even worse. We had one rather simple task and failed to deliver.

E: Quite a few dislike/wtf/disagree - will be visiting you throughout the spring when you slam our tripe performances."

My post from deadline day, just wonder wether those disagreeing still do or do they just think some other manager would do miracles up front given material on use. Worst window since Berba/Frazier, easily.

Exactly how I feel too, there are bigger problems than the lack of a striker. Our play from defence today for example was atrocious, it's become so normal for us to give the ball away cheaply and we do it way too often. Their should be more of a mentality that it's criminal to lose the ball so much but it's as if it's shrugged off with us, there's no one in the side to berate anyone who does so.

might be in danger of playing some actual football under another manager ;)

No danger given the players available or perhaps we could try and fail miserably. Though perhaps we should give it a try and see wether that would teach Daniel how to take a look on a mirror.

If we don't make top4 i'm not going to enjoy the argument cycle of us not being able to afford a striker because we didn't make the champions league which we might have done if we had signed a striker in January which we didn't do as we wanted to wait and spend the money in the summer on a striker :cautious:

I think you are falling for jose' s standard trick - lowering the expectations of his team, multiple excuses, diverting attention from what happens on the pitch. Yes we are missing two great forwards but it's no excuse for how we are playing. If we had started Ali Bergwin and Moura as the front three today would it have been any worse than Barkley Giroud and mount ?

No one wanted him to start. They were glad Jose was sending him a message.

the injuries don't help but people are kidding themselves if they think that's all it is. you could give jose city's squad and it wouldn't be long until they're playing beta cuck football.

Yes we are all pissed off, with that performance, with the tactics, with the result, with losing to that lot.

And yes, we all have a right to be to let our emotions out. And bashing the manager (because he constructs the strategy and tactics isn’t it) is par for the course.

Yet, the following is “right” too.

1. we have had knackered players who have had to play 90 mins in all matches recently. Lucas, Stevie, Toby, Aurier before today, Winks

2. we have had players who are not 100%, just back from injury, didn’t train fully, not match fit basically - Lamela, GLC, Tanguy, Davies

3. our team has not been settled yet, so the fluidity of DESK during peak poch cannot be expected here. They have barely trained together much, let alone played in matches tI think this was the first or second time that Winks n GLC n Tanguy started together. SB and Lucas playing in unfamiliar roles (at least not their usual week in week out positions) so there’s bound to be lack of chemistry!

We are not going to stupidly play a gung ho high press aggressive attacking game in such situations, are we? Especially risking more muscle injuries.

It’s quite clear what we are trying to do, we are trying to SURVIVE first and foremost and then, try to hurt the opponent with the few strengths we have left in our armoury > speed, individual brilliance, set pieces, Dele

But Dele is out of form. And players are entitled to not be pulling out 7/8/9’s week in week out; I rem John McDermott saying that if a player can play a 7 or more 66% of the time when they are on the pitch, they’d be a success already. The TOP TOP TOP players are those who can pull out 9’s and 10’s with consistency. Dele isn’t there yet.

And we tried to create via little 10-15m short crisp passing to by pass their midfield with no outlet on the wings today, and almost got through a few times, if not for a lack of finesse and quality here and there.

Today was such a scrappy game, Those of you who have played before know that fatigue is the primary cause for your touches and passing to go haywire. Toby and Stevie B had to be subbed out today to protect them from breaking down.

So yes, you are right, the tactics suck. The Football suck. We would all have wanted to see more fight in a derby. More desire. But honestly, how could we have done better given all those circumstances above?

To expect more given current circumstances is futile. But we march on. We fight on. We make do. And we give the team our support.

The forwards (or lack of) is seemingly getting the majority of the focus but by Christ, we are a fucking shambles at the back and no signs of it being remedied.

That to me is a much bigger concern than who's going to spearhead our attack right now.

I don't think there's any legitimate reason now to play Vertonghen from here on out and Toby can count his lucky stars there's not more options available because he too can exit stage left if this is what is going to be served to us.

In the spurs TV post game interview Jose says not having a target man stops us from playing long balls when the opposition high press, and stops us from scoring when they low block and swarm the box ultimately meaning we are in an impossible tactical situation. This for me is the issue. If you take Liverpool, which are unfortunately the current pinnacle of attacking football, they have been playing without a recognised striker for seasons and don't struggle. Firmino coming into the club as an AM and isn't a tall player. My issue with Jose has always been how ridged his tactics are, it can't all revolve around 1 player to target. At this point I understand why Jose is struggling because that is the one style he knows. But in this day and age teams need to be more dynamic.

Again, I'm not writing him off and he obviously needs to be given next season. And any team would struggle loosing two of their best players. But I do worry about his tactical rigidity in the modern game.

I agree this is what we're going to hear, but we need to make sure we don't forget the fact that the "if we qualify for the CL the prestige and money will allow us to sign better players" argument was comprehensively shut down by the fact that in all our years since we first qualified we've been the lowest spending team outside of the Burkina Faso Third Division.

We spent and bought fuck all during our CL run and we wouldn't change that all of a sudden this summer.

Mourinho's style is go direct to the target man, pick up the pieces and hope a skilful attacking player produces some individual brilliance. It's basically classic old school English football.

Well he must have watched a different game to me. We were 2nd best all over the pitch, couldn't keep the ball for any length of time & there's simply no belief in the side.

Don't see why our players are any more tired than Chelski, Leipzig or any other CL side, but they certainly look worse than any of them.

Results continue to get worse? We are 10 points closer to top 4 than when he took over.

He has answered on Parrott already and the vibe is he is not at the required mental level yet. Skipp I would love to get some minutes but in all honesty he played the 3 midfielders everyone was crying out for.

As I said before, you cannot expect a team to play expansive football when you cannot put together a proper 11. Players are playing put of position and putting a shift in for us whilst running on fumes we havent played good expansive football for over a year and I dont think we can expect to until we have a full squad to choose from and not such a busy schedule.

The people who were crying out for that CM3 weren't crying out for 5 at the back though. Gives with one hand and takes away with the other.
