The one thing that doesn't help is that everytime we spend big, we turn into a big old steamy turd. The one season we didn't spend, we got to a CL final.

The thrift gods of football at play.

Thought about reporting your post for sheer stupidity!

True but we were certainly already creaking despite the final run.

I admit that our better windows have generally been smart non-expensive buys - Toby, Wanyama, Eriksen spring to mind.

Unfortunately football has moved on. These buys are highly unlikely on today's market, unless they are players very close to their contract ending. This is where I think the club have struggled, they identify players but before you know it they get quoted 40m+ for players who are yet to prove themselves in top leagues. Ndombele (although he did in the CL) and now Soumare.

I think this summer levy finally accepted he needs to spend big on these types but I do still think he'll baulk at a few.

Which is why we should be really smart and pick up the likes of Bogle and Eze.

Sissoko's current role is basically babysitting Aurier which is also leaving a massive gape in our CM which is allowing us to be overrun.

It's an absolute shitshow right now.

and whose asking Aurier to play that far a head, and asking Sissoko to cover?

we are talking 9 PL games now, no way would Mourinho still be playing a player week in week out if he wasn't doing the job asked

I'd say we need a player in the DM role who is a technically good footballer, with a defensive mindset, coupled with an eye for a pass and the ability to execute it. He also needs to have a bit of pace and an ability to help out defensively at set pieces. For my money, the player who ticks those boxes better than anybody else in the squad is Juan Foyth. I simply cannot see how he could be worse than any of the other players we've tried to date. If he was between Ndombele and GLC in a CM3 I think we'd look a whole lot more resilient and a whole lot more progressive in one fell swoop. I fully expect Jose to persist with the setup that has been so appallingly bad though.

we actually have 1, he played that role for PSG, though not sure he wants that roll GLC. also Foyth did stat as a DM

Is very difficult to put your finger on what the problem is. Poch & Jose are clearly top managers, and on paper we have a good squad of players. I think the problem lies in the combination of players we have, we don’t have players that those around them better, such as a Carrick, Modric or even Berbatov etc... They don’t need to be world class either, someone like Gareth Barry or Jordan Henderson perform the same kind of role. This is why I think Ali is looking particularly poor, he needs the right kind of players around him to see the best of him. I don’t think there is much more José can do until he gets the chance to bring on a couple of players.

We will see the odd good result as when we click we are still a decent side but we won’t have much consistency with this bunch of players.

We have some good players.. not a cohesive squad of players

And we were spoilt by da moose(who's ability to win the ball without fouling was underrated)...as well as a prime and motivated erikssen..
No one has been brought in to replace or even challenge either yet.

This season should be a write off,While Jose susses out the squad and gets the players he needs in

Oh btw wouldn't llorente and trippier be perfect for jose ball? ??

I am looking forward to the day Mourinho gets the sack. He is an embarrassment. He moans about injuries, moans about the ball and moans about everything else. Mourinho believes his own hype he thinks he is the show and you can see the players don’t really care and will never play for him. Mourinho will get another golden parachute probably at the end of the season.

Oh 100% it's on Jose. I just don't understand what he's doing. We are lopsided and have gaping holes in our team which are easily exploited, even by shit teams.

I don't think GLC enjoyed playing there for PSG. Also it's something completely different playing that role in a team that totally dominates it's league to playing there for us in the EPL where everybody thinks we're there for the taking. I'm far from certain that Foyth would be a success at DM but I'm also pretty sure that he'd be no worse than what we've tried week in, week out, and that 3 in CM would be more stable and able to get hold of a game than 2.

Have you seen Mourinhos press conferences? Have you heard what he said. He did say some things about VAR and Harrys injury but for the most part he has been honest and fantastic at press conferences. Contrast that with Pochs constant whining,or saying what a great game we played when we were pance.
Im not for any of them,I just want to see what they say and how they manage. Im hoping Mourinho can get it right. He has been truthful and admitted he got things wrong, thats why he can adjust during a game when Poch had a hard time with that

I believe for some the Chelsea connection is too much to overcome and will not give an inch in their dislike .
For me i am willing to support Jose to the utmost and I can truthfully say that Poch's last year was awful and in the end I could not see it getting better. So to expect immediate improvement without an influx of 3 or 4 players is not realistic and until he can put his mark on the team we are going to have to like it or lump it .
I must say tho that the thought of supporting a team that actually wins things is pushing me to support Jose .

He deserves time to shape this team and make it what he wants it to be. Make no mistake though given the Wembley and new stadium issues, injuries to key players, unsettled squad etc we over achieved last year making it to the champions league final and finishing fourth.
