I wonder what Eric Deir's fitness levels are actually like right now. Because he's going to play a massive part going forward. Mourinho tried to sign him when he was at United.

Was just going to post the same. I really think in 12 months Dier will be an absolute top DM under José. I also think he will start for England at next year's Euro's. José will reinvent him.

He’s going to be more settled here than he was at United you’d hope. He was stuck in a hotel his entire time up in Manchester which probably didn’t help.

Crikey, the apologists are starting strongly today - poor wickle Jose Mourinho got booted from Utd because Big Bad Woodward made him slash money on shite players and also he had to stay in a luxury hotel ? - I thought we hired a gritty, hard nosed winner not a Mariah Carey style diva.

But at least we're going to be a prime sports entertainment anchor tenant product now whether that is genuinely good football or grimly fascinating slow motion car crash.

If Mourinho appoints a former player to his coaching team, gonna put in an early shout that I wouldn't be surprised to see Robbie Keane return - he's one of our only former players out working as a coach...

Edit:

Another shout - just seen Eidur Gudjohnsen is managing the Iceland U21 team...

I’m excited by this appointment. Levy deserves a lot of credit for getting a serial winner like Mourinho.

I appreciate the optimism. But this "serial winner" tag the media have slapped on Jose. Like he's some sort of magician.

If there's one thing Spurs are capable of doing in this situation, it's taking that off him. Limited resources(least in the top 6). And a large part of the fan base, especially those who go to the games, who don't want him here. Jesus, his ego and this situation. Uh oh. And yes he's all refreshed from his time off, been studying the game etc... But the timer has now been started to see when he reverts to type. I'd give it a year.

Personal prediction, starts being a prick about a year from now, gone by summer 2021, we all get to sit around wondering what the fuck it was all about.

This is equivalent to when we hired George Graham. A manager with pedigree but he will only ever be one bad performance away from being booed as the playing style is so dire. While Liverpool/Man City are playing attacking football with verve and pinache we can look forward parking the bus at home to Leicester with a midifield 3 or Wanyama, Dier and Sissoko.

My desire to win trophies isn't at the expense of good football like someone of you. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive as has been proven by Liverpool and Man City. It's part of our dna to play good football and it's pure short-terminism to bring in a coach who's default is anti-football.

He just isn't a nice guy either. Since when he guaged the Barcelona's coach's eye out and abused the female Chelsea doctor, he has shown what a unlikeable character he is. I'm too moralistic to get behind somone like that. I support the club so hope he does well but I will never back him as a man.

Really intrigued by what Jose will do with this team, also the fact that he has an axe to grind with so many other big teams in our league will make him fire the team up ahead of big games.
Imagine arsenal with his hatred of Wenger,Chelsea and utd for obvious reasons and then there's pep and klopp that he'll know doubt want to get the better of.
No more going into top 6 games on a wing and a prayer with eriksen being a passenger or the formation not working as we all scream for the manager to change it but he never does . Can't wait !
