I was saying the same during the match today. We just don’t do it now. It’s much more high risk as you don’t always have the ball but it’s a lot less boring, easy to read and defend against.
There's a cracking Toby carvery within walking distances as well, Levy's 'ace up the sleeve' when negotiating I imagine.
Jose is literally living the dream.
I'll take 40% possession but clean sheet victories every game. Some past days of 60+% possession but slumbering through the match were dross. We only had 51% possession so yeah, we have less of the ball but do more with it.
Absolutely loving the mentality this guy has in saying the quote below.. The lads will be mental to not wanna win things with him. Hope they can wake up soon and feel how blessed they are..

This is one of the things I knew I was excited about before the first match under Mourinho. No more possession just for the sake of it. No more hogging the ball in the most obscure areas. I love this idea that your team doesn't have to keep the ball.We only had 51% possession so yeah, we have less of the ball but do more with it.
That performance and result was for all those spurs and other fans who said Jose would bring us boring defensive football, anyone who said that has never properly watched or understood Jose teams.
As I posted before:
-his first Chelsea team was exciting
-his Real Madrid team scored over 116 goals in the league which was a record
-Inter Milan scored decent amount of goals they just are remembered for one incredibly effective resilent defensive display down to 10 men away to barcelona
-his 2nd Chelsea team won the league and scored tons of goals
Great performance great win!

Fully agree, Chelsea had 70% possession against Everton, and I loved how that worked out for them. This is one of the things I knew I was excited about before the first match under Mourinho. No more possession just for the sake of it. No more hogging the ball in the most obscure areas. I love this idea that your team doesn't have to keep the ball.
Exactly, especially when you lose intensity or a magnet like Dembele.A big issue we had under AVB, and bit with Pochettino especially towards the end, is a lot of teams will happily allow you to dominate possession if you’re not being particularly progressive with it. For a start it allows the opposition team to organise and get into shape making them much harder to breakdown. Secondly it slows down attacks and the possibility of counter attacks. Thirdly you’re more likely to give the ball away in a dangerous position, like the centre of the park or in front of your own box when you do lose possession.
I may be wrong, but I believe Drogba and Robben were two of his first signings at Chelsea.I said similar when he came in mate, any times he played boring football were a consequence of what he inherited. That Chelsea team with Robben, Cole, Duff and Drogba etc played some exciting stuff. He’s inherited an exciting attacking unit here and look what he’s doing already.
