Johnson needed that goal and I think Ange needed it more. That was shocking and reminiscent of games before managers get sacked.

Hope this is the Aston villa harry kane moment that Poch had and we pick up.

Hard to celebrate that tonight, as bad as it sounds.

Hopefully it's a turning point for him & the team.

Need a SERIOUS upturn in performances.

Relieved to be through and delighted for Djed and Brennan but i think its only a matter of time for Ange.
He isnt tweaking anything and the vulnerabilities of the system are exposed every game.

Hope he figures out our final third problems before Solanke loses confidence. If he does we might actually be fun to watch, even though we will concede a lot despite all that possession.

He's great now, right? Isn't that how it works?
Nope im still very concerned but I hope he turns it around as sick of changing managers and he seems a decent bloke.

As I said above though I am worried the wide players in particular don’t suit his system - randomly if Gill had a bit more strength I reckon he’d have been the ideal Ange winger.

Papered over the cracks today with a late win but that was an embarrassing performance and tactical display.

I admire Ange the person, but I'm losing faith in Ange the manager.

Best thing I can say is the players are absolutely trying for Ange. He needs to repay that faith though and look how he can set this team up to be better.

If he continues to keep this system, he'll be putting himself before what's best for the football club and that can't be justified.

The winning move, Deki on for Werner... needed to be forced by an injury.

Otherwise Djed did well. So he probably gets another 25 minutes in 2024.

Ange is not giving me confidence at the moment. And even worse, i don't think the players either.

Johnson with a sliding doors Kane vs Villa moment for Ange or that win just going to paper over cracks… we shall see.

Honestly I’m still quite concerned moving forwards as we simply do not look like scoring goals both tactically and in terms of lack of quality of our attacking players, but glad we didn’t go out and mabye Ange should’ve started a stronger team as Coventry are no mugs.

The rollercoaster continues.

Forget how bad we were that was a huge win, that was the first time I’ve been worried about Ange, everything tonight seemed like the wrong decision until Kulu came on, ultimately we have won though.

Onto Brentford, we have to build on it now.

The problem is the wide players aren’t suited to what he wants to do.

Odobert probably is but went off early tonight and Ange would have to either drop or move Son central.

And Johnson and Werner are just atrocious and Kulusevski should be playing right, although he struggles wide in this system as the full backs don’t overlap as much.

Theres also the concern that Moore perhaps would be best on the left, but would he also be the kind of winger to suit how Ange likes to play?

Same spurs, we bring in a manager then don’t give him the most vital parts for his system, although there are worries he is a little out of his depth.
Exactly this

Analyse the whole game, not the last 90. We’d be absolute humped by a better team. Ange is too stubborn, he has a way of playing and that’s it.
Starting putting in calls to Tuchel for him to sort things out for 12 months, before the merry go round starts again!

Same problems but it is a cup game and at least it didn't end up like Colchester or Sheffield United. Credit where it's due with Spence coming on.

But this style of play of pushing 9 players forward isn't worth it if no one is going to have the urgency to take a shot because what is all that risk for? This team has not shown any ability for almost a whole year of keeping a clean sheet so what's with the neat passing to get in the box just to start all over again.

As I said in the match thread, we’ve all seen enough Europa league games, and early cup rounds to know how disjointed we can look when we make numerous changes. Even under peak Poch there were games like this.

We shouldn’t have been surprised with this showing, as frustrating as it was to watch.

With that in mind I don’t think it really tells us anything about the manager’s suitability or the direction of travel to be honest with you. It was just a typical cup game against lower league opposition.

End of the day we got the result and we go through.
