Well, I probably sit in the minority here but I don't think we were as bad as some people are suggesting and I don't think it's (as a whole) that bad either. If the general consensus is that we're a work in progress and that there'll be frustration and bad results along the way, then why are people getting so militant when that is what is happening?

Again, probably minority view, but if we can just find that combination that makes it click, we'll have a fucking awesome team and I genuinely don't think we're that far off.

Yet arsehole had the same issues and arteta dealt with it bringing a set piece coach last year and they look completely different attacking and defending them.
Fuck me, set piece coach made the difference, surprised he’s not an actual manager.

Ur aren’t making sense, they played for a draw at best, scored from a corner. Artery doesn’t usually play that way,
They didn't play for a draw. That wouldn't make sense for them, they're going for the league. What they showed was first rate game management. They kept us at arm's length, scored at the perfect time, and allowed us to founder away on their very good defence. I was at the game and was really impressed with how they coped with their absences. I think Arteta is growing into a very good manager.

Sorry mate, ofc they bombarded us, pushed us back constantly, always on the front foot they were.
They don't need to do that against us. If they do, we'll probably beat them. Arteta knew the best way for them to play was sit in and deny us any space and force us into wide areas. He then knew we'd struggle to score and they'd get a chance or two to win the game. He wasn't playing for a draw at all.

They play City away next week. If they'd drawn or lost to us, that'd become even more important for them to get a result and heap pressure on them. He wasn't playing for a draw in a million years - he just had to adapt his usual game to stand the best chance of beating us. And it worked really well.

I said they played well, they played not to loose, but u have to remember Artera has been with them for 10 years. His first 4 years weren’t that hot. We need to give our guy the same opportunity, or we will be having this same debate when I’m 50!

I guess 2 ways to look at it.
You are probably looking at this as fresh season. I am looking at last 17 PL games...because for me, not much has changed in the XI from end of last season to now as we have same core of players.
Had we been starting or playing likes of Bergvall, Gray, Dragusin and getting these performances & results - I would probably go with your views as there is a case for need of time to settle.

We havent changed anything. Its same tactics, same personnel. Only thing changed since start of last season is how teams setup & play against us.

People are frustrated. I get that up to a point, but for some, it's done in a negative way with a certainty that's impossible to justify or take seriously. Just relax and let it wash over you, give it some time and people will calm down. Come back in December 2033 :woot:

It was a street wise performance from arsenal. Something they've got good at the past 2 years. We're early in year 2 under Ange. They're a fully functioning team developed under Arteta. They've been too good for us last 3 of this fixture but on the plus side we got closer than the previous 2 occasions.

Needs to be backed. By the fans and by the club.

This is not a quick fix and never was. Although I am not seeing much improvement in the team at the moment, Ange still has my support.

Same with me.

I want him to stay for the long haul.

But that doesnt mean im not concermed about a lack of overall progress.

Jus deflated, hugely....lets see what happens over the coming weeks but I reckon we',re in for a bumpy ride.

Just going to have to suck it up.

You don't think today was a bad performance?!? I am genuinely amazed at that. Yes we were playing a quality team but they kept us at bay so easily it was embarrassing. We created nothing, we couldn't lay a glove on them. We are so predictable that any well organised team consistently gets joy against us which has been shown in the games so far this season with our only win against Everton. 3 wins in last 11 games (Burnley, sheff utd and Everton) is frightening
I'm not going to suggest we battered them or anything but they're the second best team in the league and we had twice as many shots and dominated possession.

They are a more mature, canny and confident side. But we can get there.

As for chances, it's true we didn't create a ton of clear chances (against a team that has only conceded 3 in their last 10 away games) but Solanke had a clear opportunity to shoot or pass to the outside and dawdled. He had a looping header that I actually thought was in for a moment. Udogie was through on goal and tried to pass instead of shooting. Kulu and BJ had shots just over the bar. Odoberts late shot looked like it might be dangerous before it hit the offside player. VDV and Romero had headers right at Raya.

We can and should create more, even against the best defence in the league, but it was far from bad, Imo. If anything showed with a bit more cutting edge and calmness we'd be among the best in the league. Time will tell if we can get there.

We've definitely got to break the cycle of hiring and firing and I've accepted that we won't be winning any titles or silverware for the foreseeable future.

However we as fans need to see constant progress in order for us to be on board. Similarly, I think levy needs to calm the trigger finger if we are outside of the European places, so long as he can see things are improving and progressing.

At this moment in time we are not challenging for top 4, I think we will be lucky to finish top 6 the way things are. But football is a fickle mistress and things can change in the blink of an eye and in the next 10 games we could be in the European mix.

And also, Ange needs to be fully backed with the players he wants and needs. None of this buying players with future transfer profits in mind. That's not how you build a title or trophy winning team, we need experience along with youth. I can't see Ange demanding players who are earning 150k plus a week, but if he needs or wants a player who is close to that who he genuinely feels will take the team up a level then level needs to pony up.

Lange should be under more pressure than Ange IMO.

He should be hoping a lot of these kids come good. Otherwise, he won't be here very long.
Well, the kids will come good, I'm sure. But that will certainly take time.

I like Ange’s mentality but I think it’s just too deep for the players and a lot of fans and the media to get their heads around. Footballers aren’t the brightest bunch. Keep it simple and you’ll probably get a tune out of them.

Unless you have a squad with the technical ability of City.
