€350M (€368M if you include Udogie)of player transfers in under Ange - in 14 or so months.
First-team players who go straight in? Or more young talent, where whether they succeed is more hit and miss. These players are expected to adapt to Ange's philosophy. There are those he wants who would go straight into the team; he doesn't get many of those.

Some of those players were purchased before he joined, so was he in a position to say no? I think this summer is the real one. We didn't get him what he really needed for today. If the kids come good, then great, but is someone like Levy patient enough? The man has more knee-jerk reactions than the fans. :ROFLMAO:

Eureka! Surely Ange can see it’s not happening so why does he need to try something Wednesday, do it in a big game and trust the players you bought/kept.
If I see Ben Davis starting I might well blow a fuse!
Get ready to blow a fuse, might be wrong but thought that VDV was limping a little at the end.

It's not long enough to sack him, but it's certainly long enough to raise questions about his ability.
It’s not the questions I mind as much as this hysteria after a tight loss. At the end of the day we had 2 *proven winners* who completely combusted. Then there is this whole idea he won’t learn or adapt. Give the guy a chance before sticking the boot in. A half season or even a full season is no time to be judging. Us of all fans should know that, I clearly remember Poch getting the daggers after a season. Now we’re calling for the days of Hudd, Lennon and OHara to come back. Next we will be yearning after Sinton and Fox.

4 games in and personally don't think we've had a bad performance yet. Results are disappointing, our decisions in key moments can be massively improved, but still quite upbeat on what we can get to this season and especially beyond.

Paratici was working for the same board...

He managed to work within the confines well enough.

Pretty obvious there's been a major strategic pivot since then. All high earners moved out of the club, none brought in. No new deals for Son or Romero.

How much we've spent means nothing if they aren't players the manager wants or needs.
Not many managers have that luxury, it why Jose and Conte are irrelevant now. I’d say only Pep gets who he wants now, and he doesn’t get that many.

Miguel makes a lot of good points here, well worth reading. Our frailties remain and teams know exactly how to set up against us. If this continues then we've all seen this movie before and know exactly how it ends

It's really the wages we should be looking at.

We bought Johnson for the same fee as Chelsea bought Palmer. Palmer has a much higher salary. But also is a considerably better player.

Transfer fees for young players often comes with selling at a profit down the line. Nothing wrong with that but if we want quality players, we need to pay the salaries.

If we're buying inferior players, we're not backing the manager, regardless of the transfer figures.

Honestly think less than 60% of the posters on here actually watch the games. Comments about bring Jose or Conte back are litterally laughable.

The biggest issue for me is that we just consistently look to play the exact same patterns of play. Out to the winger, they then come back inside where it's overloaded, and we just recycle possession and rinse and repeat.

Teams have worked out just to let us play the ball out wide, and when we do finally put a cross in we only have 1-2 people there to hit.

We are just way to toothless in attack and teams know that. We need to add some sort of variations and use the overloads down the wings to better effect.

I'm not saying ange out, but he's being just as stubborn as either Jose or Conte, and he needs to find ways to make things click in the final 3rd and adjust to suit our strengths.

Why are people acting like it's a surprise we aren't going toe to toe with the second best team in the league?

We aren't there anymore lads. We're in the business of developing talent for sometime/someone else in the future.

Another manager who will fail under ENIC. Nothing will change until we are under new ownership which won’t be anytime soon.
Been saying this since Jol was fired.

It all comes from the top.

I’d say we’re weaker in football terms that lots of other stages of Levy’s leadership. Mostly because our scouting system seems to have become very mediocre the last 5 years. We’re buying lots of flawed players.

Agree with this.

I'd probably keep Bentancur in there as the 8 though and see what Bergvall can do behind Solanke
Yeah, I think Gray and Bergvall HAVE to play and I certainly wouldn't be against giving Mikey Moore a run out on one wing with Odobert on the other.
But Werner hasn't played much yet, so I can see him starting for sure.

I'm torn on Bentancur because while he needs minutes, especially with a ban looming, I also want to see Sarr play in a game that he should have a chance of dominating midfield.

That was a bad performance, not in the traditional sense, but we didn't trouble them at all. They didn't even have to defend particularly well. They were just well organized.

You don't think today was a bad performance?!? I am genuinely amazed at that. Yes we were playing a quality team but they kept us at bay so easily it was embarrassing. We created nothing, we couldn't lay a glove on them. We are so predictable that any well organised team consistently gets joy against us which has been shown in the games so far this season with our only win against Everton. 3 wins in last 11 games (Burnley, sheff utd and Everton) is frightening

A Gooner, player and manager smirking and u want me to read this shit? Lego head can fuck off, we will get them on the flip flop. I can spin this anyway he wants, he isn’t a manager to sit deep, he was scared, parked the bus and scored from a set piece. It’s nothing more nothing less.

It’s like continually trying to fix an old banger, the moment you replace one part from ebay and get it going again something else breaks down but because you’ve spent all this money trying to change the odd part here and there you keep doing it when in reality you should have just scrapped it and bought a new one when the first guy told you to.
