Couldn’t be more on the money. If our transfer strategy is to bring in young high potential players over established stars like Eze or Neto then we need to play these young players.

If Ange isn’t going to change his tactics when they’re not working he needs to change the personnel if the players he’s picking aren’t working. We paid 1st team level fees for these young players, so they should be in the first team if we think their ability justified the fees.

What if Ange didn’t want them or simply they where the best players Ange was going to get of that profile and therefore not quite good enough to get into the first XI.

Listening to Ange post match

Listening to his interview post match you will see them on Wednesday and if we get knocked out there will be the same reaction as last season about not giving priority to the domestic cups with senior players being selected

My team for Wednesday would be.....

Vic
Gray
Dragusin
VdV
Udogie
Bentancur
Bergvall
Sarr
Odebert
Werner
Solanke

I don't think he will do this though and I think we will see more senior players in.

Given best part of squad is the defensive personnel we have, I will not be against a back3. Back3 need not be seen as defensive system.

Vicario
Romero Dragusin VDV
Porro Bissouma Bentancur Udogie
Maddison/Bergvall
Solanke Son

looks like we have finally built a team for Conte’s 3412 system.

you are right that is probably our best team on paper. Funny how we have final built a Conte team but lack a team for Ange cos the wingers are average.

Maybe with the next manager we will build a team for Ange when Ange is gone.

Gotcha.

Sure Ange isn't immune to criticism, but surely no manager can be appraised properly without getting them the appropriate players for how they play.

Our board refuses to do that. Sabotaging each manager time after time for decades.

Look at Pep's first season before he spent big (ie £150m on three FBs). Before that we took them apart at WHL. Many teams did. "Has he been found out in the PL?" was the narrative.

Klopp was on thin ice with Liverpool fans until he got Allison, Van Dyke, and Fabinho. We battered them too at Wembley.

Ange needed a starting quality technical winger. His football is about creating a very high number of quality 1v1 situations out wide.

He got Odobert and Yang as ones for the future, and Werner who has no use in this role whatsoever.

None are starting.

This summer we failed to address our biggest weakness, so if people aren't turning on the board, then we at least need to give Ange the patience to turn youngsters into starters.

Because no manager in world football is turning Johnson and Werner into Doku or Nico Williams. It just isn't happening.

These are both highly predictable and very limited players who cough up the ball constantly in the final third.
I agree with these points completely but I’m more concerned that the goals we concede seem to be pretty much carbon copies of each fairly regularly. I’ve no great insight or tactical knowledge of football and reading your posts over the years I’m sure you know more than me, but I’m very concerned that the same problems keep arising without being solved

Maybe with more time on the training ground and repetition of the training it will improve but I’m sceptical atm

I'm willing to give him time but I don't give a toss about having shit loads of possession because it's blatantly obvious that we aren't doing anything with it.

I also think that a lot of the signings this summer weren't players he really wanted, I get the feeling they were Lange signings more than anything.

With the exception of Solanke, who was needed, we haven't added any further quality to the team that we can bring in to shake things up.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited with some of the youngsters we've signed but we really can't be playing a game where we shell out a shit tonne on youth in the hope they come good. I'd rather have signed fewer players to get better quality right now.

But the only ones we bought played well pre season and had a fair shout at starting so I don’t see it as the same as last season when we played back up players without a future at the club
Yeah , I know it's a different situation to the Fulham match but if Archie, Djed and Lucas play and it sounds like they will plus Radu & Ben and maybe Forster in goal, if we go out there will be an avalanche of criticism.

Straw man argument, no one is expecting us to be title challengers overnight but it we want to see progress on the consistent failures that aren’t being addressed
In the couple of pages up to this post, you've said people are "virtue signalling" and using a "straw man argument".
If you use the term "gaslighting" in the next few pages til I catch up, I'm calling woke bingo!

Firmly in the back Ange none of this is his fault. He got badly let down in the summer. Ridiculous so imho, to only sign one first team ready player was awful. That again is on ENIC. They never learn or can never see it.

As for today positives I thought Salanke battle went, Kulu again looked good. VDV is quality.

Absolutely, £40m for Gray should see him starting every week for me

Most frustrating thing is that I still think we should have won four out of four so far this season with the majority of the way we've played.

But stupid mistakes and poor finishing and repeat...

Maybe optimistic but I still feel like it should click at some point. These attacking players are better than they're showing, even if they're not world beaters etc.
Have we actually created enough good chances to say that poor finishing has cost us?

We have dominated possession but not scared the opposition.

Here are 3 post match threads from arsenal fans in lego mans 2nd year. Took me 2 minutes to find. Here are some comments I thought might ring some bells.

"Alright Arteta is done. We are now on the brink of relegation. Did he make Xhaka be a moron? No. Did he continue to start him even if he shouldn't touch the PL squad with a ten foot pole? Yep.

Arteta is out of his depth, and despite what people on this sub say I truly believe the team has the talent and depth to improve under a more experienced manager."

"Utterly shameful. You can say whatever you want, but a manager that can't get a goal at home to a team in 18th place with one win is indefensible. The players maybe shite but it is a disgrace the way the team is being setup and the tactics are awful yet we still persist with them. 1 goal from open play in around 9(?) matches is something that would get most managers instantly sacked.

I like Mikel and I really wished he succeeded. But it's gone beyond the point of no return. He's got to go and I hope we can turn our season to get something worthwhile out of it.

The entire Arteta era has been one of clutching to straws. We were terrible after the restart last season but the FA Cup win was there. We were absolutely toothless in front of goal initially this season but we had a good defensive record. Eventually the paper couldn't cover the cracks.."

"Mikel has a lot to answer for after that. Through 50 games now and worse than Unai after 50, and Wenger last 50. That's horrific."

"This man cannot coach a fucking attack and that's evident. Our sheer impotence in front of goal is unforgivable at this point. He's been in charge for 2 years and we're as shit as we were at the start, even though we've spent a ridiculous amount of money."

"Arteta needs to go. We could have Conte or Tuchel instead and we passed on them to trust this process. He has spent the most money in Europe and has lost away to the worst teams in form in the PL. Sack Edu and Arteta and get Ten Hag and Overmars."

Price tag is u fortunate for an 18 year old, I mean Johnson was 50 million and he really shouldn’t be starting!
The bigger question is what’s stopping him starting. Odobert starts and is young and was £30m
Gray and bergvall for that matter I’m sure can give different and braver options than some of the more senior players at the moment.

Not quite - Conte was 3-4-3 typically with Son, Kane and Kuli as the front 3 - he did not usually play with a 10, and IF reports are to be believed he turned down the chance to sign Maddison.
